On a scale of 1-10 (1 being horrible - 10 being great) how good is this roster?

QB
RB
WR
TE
OLine
DLine
LBs
DBs
Kicker
Punter

Here is my personal opinion

QB- 6 (I believe in Dak and I think he's an above average QB in the NFL, if he's more than that then this will be a special year)

RB- 10 (a healthy Zeke is the best RB in the league in my opinion. He averaged the most rushing yards per game last year; 10 more ypg than Gurley. If he played a full 16 he would've won back to back rushing titles)

WR- 5 (If Hurns is still good, Gallup is as advertised with his route running ability & hands, and Cole Beasley is still money in key situations - this unit could surprise some people. I think they are average)

TE - 3 (idk maybe I'm wrong and I hope I am, but I just see a huge falloff from the HoF bound Jason Witten. If we win the SB this year I will feel really bad for #82)

OLine - 9 (this is assuming that absolutely everyone is healthy, I hope Tyron Smith is able to go a full 16+)

DLine - 7 (Could be a really good year for these boys, I hope they compete with each other to see who can get most sacks b/c they could be #1 in the league based on this rotation. I think this group is deep and will be on fire, I would love to see them end up being an 8 or a 9)

LBs - 7 (another unit that could end up being really good. If Jaylon Smith plays like Notre Dame Jaylon, Sean Lee stays healthy, and LVE ends up being a clone of Brian Urlacher - this could be another group that has potential to be an 8 or 9)

DBs - 7 (If they add Earl Thomas I would increase this to an 8 or maybe 8.5 - this group of kids are young, fast, have a new coach that will push the heck out of them, and will create turnovers)!

Kicker - 6 (I don't think Dan will ever be $Dan$ again, but I really hope I'm wrong - if I am he's a 9 or 10)

Punter - 8 (Jones is a beast)

Overall: 6.8/10

I predict that they'll win 68% of their games... which means they would be approximately 11-5 at the end of the season. I'm not sure if that'll be good enough to win the NFC East, but it could put us in a potential tie with the Eagles. With that being said, I predict the Cowboy's division will come down to tie breakers and we'll end up winning that & end up as a 2 or 3 seed in the playoffs.

Overall a solid 7 now probably higher by seasons end. It's a playoff roster which puts them in the top 1/3 of the league. Just two years removed from a 13-3 team this years team is right up there with that team.

Frankly I'm more concerned about the HC than any individual position on the roster.

QB 6 - Questions about Dak at the end of last year, and unproven depth
RB 8 - Elliott is maybe the best back in the league. I like the backups, but they're not particularly special
WR 3 - This is a below average group. I think they'll be find, because WR isn't really all that important a position, but there aren't special players here.
TE 4 - Also below average, but we've got at least three who can block and catch. They're solid, hardworking guys.
OLine 10 - This ought to be a great OL, with really good depth
DLine 7 - We've quietly gotten better here. Not as worried about DT depth as some as we've got two solid starters, one of whom might be a special player this year, a backup in Price who's serviceable, and one in Ward they seem high on. The DE depth is good and has a special player in Lawrence, and we have DE depth.
LBs 5 - We've got Lee and a couple of high potential rookies with little experience and who have proven nothing. They are high potentials, though. And Lee is a great player. Our backups and SAMs are, meh.
DBs 8 - This is high, but I think this group overdelivers this season. I do wish we had another talented role player at S, though. We're thin there.
Kicker 7 - This is another 10 if we didn't see him get shaky late last season. I think he'll be back to form, but you don't know.
Punter 8 - He's a good punter, plus he gives you the odd big play and the odd big hit.

I'd give our coaching about a 7, too, across the board. We've got a good staff that complements itself nicely. Smart, organized coach, and experienced OC and DC. A couple of what look to be really good position coaches on board this year. I worry about ST coordinator, but we'll see how that goes.

If Dak improves and plays like he did his first 24 games, this should be a good team this year. Looks like a 10-11 win team to me.

I understand that last year gave many the hibby jibby's .Me Too ! But I keep going back to first year results and I live by "if you
done it before you can do it again" 7 thus by the end of the season he will be considered a top ten QB.
Of course Zeek 10
WR 5 Im looking at Gallup
TE 4

DL 7 is great
LB 8
DB 8

Do we have depth at kicker and punter? I suspect we do not

I'm not sure about that 1 to 10 thing but given due time, I think our overall roster will pan out considerably better than last year.

Dak will more than likely have a corps of WRs that he'll be able to work with significantly better than in 2017.

The defense should have better linebacking, DL and a better secondary to its credit, as well.

I forgot to mention that the OL and our RB corps appears to have more depth than ever. :)

QB
7.5. Think Dak is good and Rush at least shown promise in PS. Time will tell how year 3 will go for Dak

RB
9.5 Zeke is one of the top backs in the game. Smith performed well in backup duty last year. Add in Austin, and Bo, looks to have some more potential.

WR
5. Williams and Hurns are 2 #2 receivers. Both have some strengths and weaknesses that may show up one week and not the other. Gallup has that potential to be something more, but too early to say how he'll fare.

TE
4. Unknowns. Swaim will probably start, but won't be like Witten playing 97% of the snaps.

OLine
10
DLine
6.5 (8 DE, 5 DT)
LBs
7. Lee and two promising young bucks in LVE and JS.
DBs
7. Potential is there. Still potential for now.

LOL.....you ask people to rate the depth and they rate the starters. This one is easy. The ONLY position with good depth is the OL at this point. IF we actually had a RDE, you could say DE. But thats it. The depth everywhere else is either non existent or young and unproven.

I’d break up DL and DB.

DE - 7 or 8
DT - 4 or 5
CB - 7
S - 4 or 5

Not a ton of quibbles with your other rankings.

QB - 5 We have the ideal backup starting, the other guys are unknowns.
RB - 9.5 Best all around back in the league
WR - 6 I'm not as down on the group as many, but they're just a bunch of okay guys (Dunno on Gallup)
TE - 5 Meh
OLine - 9 Unknown with Williams, and there will always be health concerns with Tyron
DLine - 7 Tackle issues keep this from being higher
LBs - 7 Lee is a stud, the rest of the guys have a lot of potential
DBs - 7.5 Love the guys on the outside. The middle is a different story
Kicker - 9 Dan will be fine
Punter - 8 A good kicker, but not the best. Other intangibles bring his score up.

TE is easily the weakest. The hope is they can at least execute blocking assignments in the running game. But losing Witten's threat as a pass catcher, as slow as he was, that's a big loss.

WR will be average. Hardly a dynamic group by any means but enough to keep the chains moving.

Good post!!!

QB - 4 (Veteran backup would make me feel better)
RB - 7 (Lose 2 points because the drop off is steep. Still like Smith)
WR - 9 (Pretty much all the same player)
TE - 7 (When they are all question marks what does it matter)
OLine - 9 (Good top to bottom, except for the human injury report)
DLine - 10 for DEs, 2 for DTs (Big difference between DT and DE. I have no idea why Rod doesn't see the potential problem inside)
LBs - 3 (I like Lee and Smith. LVE ??? After that - what?)
DBs - 9 for CBs, 2 for S (S = DT)
Kicker - No need for depth with DB doing his thing
Punter - Zero opinion

Just my take after 4 padded practices and we know things will change especially after the first couple of preseason games.

QB- 7 - Dak will be more like 2016 than 2017 for a variety of reasons despite the naysayers. Rush is going to be the backup and appears to be getting better enough so that in a year or two he could be decent trade bait. White has a rocket of an arm and great release but his reads are way, way to slow. White has quite a ways to go and right now he looks more like practice squad than 53 but things could change.

RB- 10 - With Zeke, Smith and Scarbough we may have the best running back tandem in the league then throw in Austin a few reps and it will make the defense tired by the 4th quarter. And we still have have Jackson who I think could be a starter on a few teams, then throw in Olawale at FB who will also catch out of the backfield and I believe line up many times at TE and block from there with possibly Zeke and Austin in the backfield. Should be fun to watch.

WR- 6 - Believe this is going to go up as the preseason and season progress. Many argue about a true #1 yet Dak style and the offensive scheme lend itself to more of spreading it around to not allow the defense to key on any one guy or position. Also we will see Zeke, Olawale, and Austin was quite a few catches out of the backfield. If you want a #1 then Beasley would be my guy right now and please don't downgrade him for size (look at Brady with his #1 guys at WR over the years, yep two small guys). Hurns is showing he still is a guy that catches well, blocks well and runs great routes without being a huge distraction. Gallup is the real deal and Williams to my surprise has been better than in past camps. If we are looking at others then Lenoir is a guy that can be special and believe Brown could be also once the hammy heals. Thompson may be the odd guy out depending on where they actually include Austin (WR or RB). Wilson on IR gives him a year to learn which is good. I once thought we would carry seven but pretty sure it will only be six. Rating here could go up to 8 or 9 depending on how things go.

TE - 2 - Lots to prove over the next 5 weeks for me. I like Jarwin and Schultz. They both will get better with reps and frankly Schultz looks like he will eventually earn the blocking TE spot. Swaim has been consistent but not outstanding to me. Gathers is just an unknown, you know, could easily be a bust or the second coming of Gronk. Gathers has a lot to prove over the next few weeks to even be with the team. I see Wells as a guy they want to get to the PS for the year and see him as making the 53 next year.

OLine - 10 - This has a great chance to be the best OL in the NFL ever. Smith is healthy, Williams is more than worthy to start, Frederick is a great center as is Martin at RG and Collins is going to show that he deserves that Pro Bowl status this year. Our backups in Looney, Fleming and Martin look really good. They are a couple of others like Mama, Campos, Edwards, and yes even Green look good enough to be PS or backups especially looking at the battle between K. Martin and Edwards.

DLine - 7 Best group of DL guys in 20 years especially at DE. Easily could be an 8 or 9 if things work out. Lawrence, Ealy, Gregory, Crawford, Charlton and Armstrong will be a force and I believe we carry 6 DEs due to the fact that Crawford and Charlton could move down to DT if needed. At DT, Ward has been a great steal of a trade, he is a beast. Jones has worked at DE and DT and has done a good job. Price, Ash, and Neal will fight for one or two spots until Collins gets back (said to be 2 weeks) and the other spot will most likely be Irving if he can resolve his issues. If Collins comes back to form and Irving does also then the DT spot is more than worthy.

LBs - 8 - This is the best group we have had since the 60s with Jordan, Lewis, and Edwards. Lee is still a standout and one of the top LB in the league. Vander Esch is going to be a beast at MLB along with Jaylon Smith who I believe eventually takes Lee's spot in a year but right now he will alternate with Esch and also rush from the SAM spot. Thomas was a great signing and Wilson has shown he is no slouch by any means and he is probably underrated. Covington is going to be a beast on ST and yet Tre'Von Johnson, Lanning and March-Lillard are looking fairly good also. Two of them are going to be on the PS. Cuts are going to be interesting here.

DBs - 7 - Good group and will be better when Earl Thomas arrives. Yes, that trade will happen and suspect it before the 3rd preseason game, just my prediction. Awuzie and Jones have been solid to great at the outside with Lewis and Brown manning the slot. Kelly has done a better than expected job at CB and S. Ward, Thomas, and White have also been active and pretty good at CB. At safety, Heath is the fans whipping boy but the kid can play, just not a flashy player. Woods is a really good FS but may have to wait when we trade for Thomas. I would keep an eye on the battle in the weeks to come on Frazier and Robinson. Odd thing is Showers has had a good camp so far but may be the odd man out. Frankly I think the trade to Seattle for Thomas is going to come down to a 4th round pick and some younger guys with upshot potential like Robinson, Ward and maybe a LB. The pick though will probably be a conditional one that could go all the way up to a 2nd based on how Thomas does.

Kicker - 9 - Just based on what the special team coach is saying, he believes Bailey is all the way back, if so 9 is a good number.

Punter - 8 - Jones is one of the best in the league and frankly could deserve a 10 depending on how we structure punts this year with the rule changes.

Long Snapper - 10 - Ladouceur is just the best there is.

I do see other trades that could come down depending on injuries on other teams and the health of our guys. First time in many years where we have some really good backup guys that probably won't make the 53.

Prediction are like butts, we all have one and some dumps are better than others. My hope is 10-6 or better with at least at the NFC Championship game. We all should revise these post after the 3rd preseason game. JMO.
