I watch a ton of college football, but I'm certainly no draftnic.

I'm just curious what some of you guys who follow more closely than I do thought of the overall quality of this year's class (not our picks, the class as a whole).

Personally I thought it was pretty weak. Not 2009 bad, but not much in this class excited me from the top 5 on down.

To me it was weak in "elite talent". deep defensive lineman draft. weak on WR/QB. lot of good safety's. not 2009 bad overall.

The national media were fair to us in this draft I think around a B-.
The potential,is sky high however.

1 difference maker in Zeke, with a possible 2nd in Smith (depending on recovery), a few potential starters or heavy rotation players and a few flyers, if they pan out so much the better, if not oh well, we tried. We could have done a lot worse. We could have done better too. But at the end of the day, I'll take it. Overall a good draft, not the worst draft class we ever had. With a healthy Romo and Dez returning, we should be better on O and D.

I should have been more clear in the OP. I'm curious about thoughts on the overall class (all teams / player) not the cowboys draft class.

I'm interested in takes on our draft also but there are other threads discussing that.

It was a very solid draft class overall. Not anything incredible at the very top, but after that, solid, and especially strong in the 35-75 pick range.
Loaded with interior lineman.

2013ish IMO

Weak of the draft and 1st round in general. Fairly deep teir 2 and 3 however

One of the worst drafts in recent years...only two players worthy of a top 10 grade were Bosa and Jaylen smith...the rest sucked. Gurley looks 100x better than Elliott when watching highlights.

It was not a great draft class IMO. Time will reveal the truth, but I don't think history will change my first impressions.

I don't see how anyone who isn't biased can give us lower than a B-

I also think once Jaylen Smith is back, this draft could be an A

Starters and serious contributors to rotation this year or in future
Elliott--20 years old (RB)
Smith--20 (LB)
Collins--21 (DT)
Tapper--20 (DE)

Make the team and contribute on Special teams--possibly find a spot in rotation this year or next
Brown--22 (CB)
Frazier--22 (SS)
Jackson--22 (RB)

Make the team--developmental
Prescott--22 (QB)

Possibly makes the team, could contribute in some way this year or developmental
Gathers--22 (TE)

Best case---All 9 of these guys could still be on the team 3 years from now, Dak's opportunities all depend on Romo.

Overall it was a fine class of Draftees, though at the top 5-10 it was especially weaker than usual.

There weren't 4-7 guys that leap out of the screen at you like some years, but there are a very high number of first year starters.

Expertly speaking that is....:muttley:

B+

In three years we have 3 starters and 2 contributors. Not including Prescott.

Anything else beyond that is all good.

Generally, what ^he said. I thought there were some nice choices in the middle rounds of WRs and RBs also.

Weaker than usual draft class. Not a ton of talent at the top. I saw a lot of 2nd round talent taken in the 1st round. WR's especially thin. DE's kind of weak. Cowboys specifically really glad we didn't trade up.

Solid c+ maybe B- draft. The first two picks where the most controversial and concerning.

Top of the draft class was weak but overall there was pretty good depth into the 4th round especially at DL. Cowboys draft I thought was solid all the way through and a B- grade currently is a fair grade that could jump to A+ if Jaylon gets healthy.
