Rational heads MUST prevail if any of us are going to get through this season alive.

First off -

Bledsoe was bad, but you have to give him a chance to bounce back. We've never seen him play that bad since he's been here, so cut him some slack... for now. He has earned the right to prove that his performance today was a one-time thing. If not, THEN let's start talking Romo. But until then, please, acknowledge that Bledsoe played a bad game (and that's all it was - ONE game) and move on. Don't forget how great he looked in the preseason.

There are positives to take out of this game, they're just buried somewhere on page 18.

Basically, I couldn't care less if you're angry about this loss. I think we all are. And vent that any way you want - but when you wake up tomorrow, just remember that things change in this league. Denver got destroyed in their first game last year and they ended up doing pretty well.

Just put things in perspective, and for the people who are looking for answers instead of creating faulty ones ("everything sucks! the world hates the Cowboys! We will never win another game!"), don't jump to conclusions until we see some kind of trend. Until then, don't get too crazy.

As for me, I'm going to go break a coffee table now.

It's not the loss, it's the fact that our defense is pitifully average, our offense is even worse, and Drew Bledsoe sucks, all things that we thought would be opposite this season.

My rational head says this . . .

We suck.

We did not play well in a single facet of the game . . .

Oh . . . McBriar punted well, nevermind.

We're going to get humiliated again next week.

0-2, here we go.

I expect to see Bledsoe again next week and probably the week after that. But if he is no better in those two games than he was today I would not be surprised to see Romo. In fact I would be disappointed NOT to see Romo if we suffer through two more weeks of this.

Is the defense that bad? How many points were off turnovers?

These are all irrational knee-jerks, none of which have any rooted basis in reality. Not one single facet? Really?

Hmmm . . . what else?

Help me out, because I'm drawing a blank . . .

I'm with you PARCHY on this one. This loss sucks, but I still think that we'll be ok. Keep in mind that we lost to Jacksonville, who is no longer a pushover. They play solid football all the way around. It is better to adjust now at the beginning of the season than later on down the stretch when we need everything in our favor.

Lets cheer up and get ready for next week ( I think we all know about this game). It'll be ok, lets wait to cancel the season until later.

I didn't think I would see anything I considered an overreaction to this game but I believe I just did. Our running game was adequate if the passing game had been better; granted it was not great but it was adequate. The defense did not do as well as I expected but it didn't help that Bledsoe kept giving the Jags a short field...14 points off turnovers. The results of this game can be laid squarely at the feet of Drew Bledsoe; everything else could have been overcome.

My thoughts...in "big picture" format.

1. Penalties. They hurt us real bad.

2. Picks. Drew's interceptions hurt real bad.

3. Playcalling. Too conservative. For three years now it's been "ball control". We have to throw the ball deep more often.

4. Defense. I have never been one that thought Zimmer was so bad and needed to be replaced...until today. Yes, Jax is a good team, but how many supposed studs do we have on defense? And we allowed 24 points? I don't care how poorly an offense plays, a defense that allows 24 points can't be all that great. Yes, I also know that the offense left them on the field too long, but maybe a more creative defensive approach might have gotten them OFF the field sooner.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see a whole lot to feel god about. These are "big picture" problems, not "fine tuning" adjustments.

Very disappointing.

Bottomline, it's the first game of the season. What we saw today isnt going to be what we see all year, absolutely

But it's still painful to see one player, arguably the most important one at that, play so bad

I'm still thinking good things for the season, but damn, Bledsoe sucked and it pisses me off

Defense? Since when is 24 points the new 34?

They stiffened in their own territory and got the offense the ball back when they needed it. How many more minutes did the Jax offense have the ball than Dallas'? How much longer was the Dallas D on the field than they needed to be? Considering this was the first game of the year (where conditioning is always an issue) in muggy weather on the road against a team that won 12 games last year, I don't see how you can take away a 7 point loss as a horrible performance worthy of every bad word in the dictionary.

Bledsoe had a very bad game, but it is only one game.

If he has another one of these next week - going into the bye week - it's time for the hook - and use the bye week to tweak whatever needs to be tweaked for Romo.

The season is far from over.

That seems fair to me. ;)

LMAO--When we win next week along the lines of 21-14, how many guys will be talking Super Bowl again!!??

Get used to it: we will play alot of close games this year--we will win most of them. This is a lonnggg season and we don't have the personel on the Oline to win many games going away.
