Sudden Knee Injury Puts Ratliff Questionable

Posted by nickeatman at 10/30/2009 1:54 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com
After a seemingly injury-free week for the Cowboys, one of their best defensive players is now questionable to play Sunday.
Jay Ratliff, a Pro Bowl defensive tackle is having even a better season in 2009, sustained a knee injury in practice Friday. The Cowboys are still evaluating him and his status is uncertain for the game.
The Cowboys practiced indoors Friday at Carroll High School in nearby Southlake, one of their many practice spots of this season. The indoor bubble covers a 50-yard artificial turf field.
In six games this season, Ratliff has 31 tackles and 2.0 sacks, along with a team-high five tackles for loss.

His status is still "uncertain." There's a lot of leeway there. Maybe it's nothing major.

I guess if any week he's out it would be this one. Hope, at the very least he's back by the Eagle game.

If Rat's not able to go, who backs up Siavii?

It's a bit late in the week to be signing a NT and expecting him to be up to speed with the defense by Sunday.

It doesn't sound too severe, and this is a game where he can probably not get much if any action and we should be ok. I think we're doing well, keeping away from any serious injuries though a lot of guys are a little banged up. But losing Rat for several weeks would NOT be what I want to hear...

Spears. And Hatcher would play LDE.

Welcome to my world. At least its not season ending though. If he does not play this week maybe he will be out there for the following game. Good luck to him on his recovery. Injuries suck.

According to Todd Archer, Ratliff injured his knee yesterday, not today, and had an MRI yesterday. Wade Phillips said the MRI revealed a sprain.
