Mickey Spagnola was running through the injury list and when he mentioned Jay's injury he added that he looked like he couldn't even walk comfortably...ouch!

He also mentioned that Ratliff has been dealing with this for a month and a half too.

I believe that was also what Kyle Kosier struggled with last season.

I know this one has bothered Antonio Gates for quite sometime. Wouldn't be surprised if Jay has some practice-less weeks ahead of him this season and a whole lot of "questionable" tags.

Ratliff could really use a dietitian or a nutrition expert because a lot of the times there's an underlying inflammatory problem which contributes or causes the condition.

That hes been in treatment for months already is actually a good thing. It would be much more alarming if it was just now coming to light at the club. Takes months to recover and he has another month or more until TC. i just want him gtg by the season.

They should just shut him down for Training Camp. Does he really need the reps more than he needs to start the season healthy?

no need to worry , we locked him in to a 5 year 40m extension just last September................

hope this one doesn't linger on.

I had this problem a couple of years ago. Hurts like hell. Hurts to walk and you really can't run. Feels like somebody stabbing you in the bottom of your foot with a knife on every step.

Doctor gave me a shot in the heel. Needle goes in about an inch on one side.
That was fun. Give you an insert for your shoes. Was pretty good in a couple of week but I wasn't playing in the NFL.

If he wants it to heal to the point where the can throw around lineman for 16 + weeks, he needs to air-cast it, non-weight bearing for at least 8 weeks, preferably 12. Bike & swim for conditioning, continue lifting upper body and eating right to maintain musclemass. There is no other way around it.

I hope Ratt is ok and hopefully he'll be able to come back to form with rest and rehab. Having said that, if it becomes a worst case scenario:

IRVING -- The Cowboys and Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff have agreed to a five-year, $40 million contract extension this morning. As part of the deal, $18 million is guaranteed and $10 million will be up-front money in a signing bonus.

Depending on how much of that money was allocated to the 2011 cap ( if any ) and how the contract is structured in terms of base salary, it's not a cap killer if it's terminated AFTER the 2013 season, or 2 years from now.

What would hurt more is losing his contributions and leadership on the field.

Not sure either, I would have to rely on adam for that type of info

So many of our contract extensions seem to come back to bite us.

Yet we have had the opposite as well. Romo, Ware, Witten. I just wish the ratio was a little better then about 3-1 against.

Roy 1 and 2. MB. Hamlin. Scandrick. Sense. Gurode. Colombo. James.

As we await Adam with actual details....

The deal almost certainly guaranteed 2011 and 2012.
Worst case he got a fully guaranteed 2 year 18 mil dollar deal.

Right now we'd owe 8 mil of the signing bonus and at most 6 mil of guaranteed salary. No way he is a cut this year.

In 2013 we owe at most 6 mil of bonus and that's it. split over 2 seasons means we'd pay a 3 mil cap cost in 2013/2014 for him which is peanuts.

But the deal was probably created with keeping him for 2013 in mind as well then releasing him in 2014. Creating only 4m to be dealt with but removing around 18-20m of that initial 40m contract.

I have this in my right foot from running. It's been about a year and the pain still hasn't gone away completely. It's the worst in the morning.

Hopefully the med staff can get it under control.

Are we even going to be able to field a defense this year?

Ware - Neck
Ratliff - Foot
Jenkins - Shoulder
Connor - Shoulder
Carter - Knee

And yeah, they'll all 'heal' before the season starts, but we know how this goes for us, the injuries always crop back up and they miss time.
