This may be hard to believe, but PFT had it first. (They predicted the mainstream outlets wouldn't credit them once the news broke, too.)

yeah they had first, not

...this has been talked about since before the draft

McNAIR DEAL HINGES ON PHYSICAL

Our report regarding the trade of Tennessee quarterback Steve McNair to the Baltimore Ravens has been confirmed, both by numerous other media outlets and by the teams involved.

Per the Titans, the trade hinges on McNair passing a physical with the Ravens. "We have granted permission to Baltimore to give Steve McNair a physical," the Titans said in a statement, "which we expect to take place in the next 24 hours. Upon passing a physical, final trade terms will be agreed upon." An items on the Ravens' web site states that, if McNair passes the physical, the trade will occur.

And for those of you who think that the McNair physical injects one final bit of drama into this offseason odyssey, think again. If Daunte Culpepper and his three surgically repaired knee ligaments could pass a physical with the Dolphins, McNair and his no obvious physical ailments should do quite nicely when it's time to be poked and prodded.

Any idea what the Ravens gave up for McNair?
A 4th rd pick and after thinking about it I stand corrected. A 4th rd pick might be too much considering how fragile McNair has become.

Hate to say it, but once again, PFT hit a story before the major outlets.

They broke the news of the actual trade first. Not the idea that he was going to be traded. That is what has been talked about for weeks.

On the other hand, the Ravens will carry more than $6 million in dead money in 2007 as a result of this massive and idiotic overpayment being made to McNair.

Bingo.... Crazy to sign a QB for that short of a time.
And the Titans get to carry a load of dead money on him for this and next year.

PFT is my source for everything true and relevant in the world of sports. That being said. I guess they have no faith in Kyle. I didn't think he was that bad, but I don't watch many Ravens games. IMHO, the Ravens wont even sniff the playoffs this year.

I am actually surprised that there isn't a big stink about "honoring contracts" and posters saying "isn't that the teams signature on that deal".

Oh well, I guess it's ok for the team to not honor deals but heaven forbid a player ask for more money, guarantees or ask to be traded with a year or years left on his deal.

I think it is deplorable what the Titans did in this matter. McNair gave his heart, soul and body to that team for years only to have them mistreat him in this manner. He is a warrior and I respect him as a player and as a man (he was very loyal to that organization). I wish him luck in Baltimore.

I do understand that this is the nature of the business. That is why I never have a problem with players seeking more out of their deals since EVERYONE knows you won't see the last couple years of the deal.
