4 games for abusive relationship with girlfriend. I guess it was 2 games less abusive as Zeke's abuse.
Only if it's a Cowboy. If it’s DV then I thought 6 games was the minimum?
Prolly going to give Zeke the other two.If it’s DV then I thought 6 games was the minimum?

I understand why the NFL needs to suspend players for these types of issues; however, I still don't know why the NFL wants to suspend it's own players for drugs.
,,,er,,,you kinda answered the question of yer' own quandary Amigo, in the second sentence of yer' own post: I.E. " whose of discernment in the " cut-off" of acceptability and what's not?I don't know why either. If you drive or work with heavy or dangerous equipment, testing for drugs is necessary. I can even understand the "image" angle. But if it's not public, the only way anyone knows their smoking weed is when they're testing positive. I can fully understand it if they were arrested on drug charges or a video emerged with a player face down on a mirror, then suspend them for actions detrimental to the league. But otherwise I don't see the point.

The ones that ask this typically answer their own question with a later counterargument...I understand why the NFL needs to suspend players for these types of issues; however, I still don't know why the NFL wants to suspend it's own players for drugs.
The NFL found evidence of "threatening and emotionally abusive behaviors" by Smith toward his former girlfriend, according to a statement released by the team.
Football does have some heavy and dangerous equipment in the form of other players. If I'm a QB I don't want the guys protecting my blind side to be high on weed. After the game, take all you want to help you sleep, relax and recover, but I don't want someone missing an assignment because their reflexes were dulled by weed. That could lead to some unnecessary and brutal hits.
That's a team issue, not a league issue. If you're messing around, you're cut. No reason for the league to get into it. Its been done this way for decades. No one needs the league to step in. Just like my job now. I was a toll collector for 14 years, not a single drug test. As soon as I transferred over to road maintenance, drug tests are mandatory and random.
Maybe it should be just a team issue, but if a player ends up suing someone because they got hurt due to one of their teammates or opponents was on drugs they won't just sue the team. They will sue the league. I'm all of legalization, but it would be weird if players were actually smoking weed on game days. It doesn't seem like a drug that would be beneficial to performance.
