Sun: "Did the video match the story Ray Rice told you?

"You know. Ray had given a story to John [Harbaugh] and I," Newsome said. "And what we saw on the video was what Ray said. Ray didn’t lie to me. He didn’t lie to me.”

That certainly goes against the presumed narrative, that the Ravens and NFL had to take serious action against Rice after it saw the video, because something more happened on the surveillance video than they were told, and they were misled by Rice. But Newsome said, pretty clearly, that Rice told them exactly what was on the video.

Im strongly against what Ray Rice did, but it sounds like the NFL and The Ravens are punishing him twice to save face.

I am 100% against this whole disgraceful set of actions on all parts.

From Rice hitting, her marrying him AFTER this happened, Goodell and the Ravens actions and non actions.

My question. Is there a legal play here for Rice.

If it was a regular Joe and he hit his fiancé/wife... He wouldn't necessarily fire employee. And the question? Could he legally.

PS. Would love to see BIG guy punch and slap Rice around. Just so he could know how it feels.

If he told them in detail exactly what he did, to where it matched that video, then they should all be ashamed of themselves that they reacted the way they did initially. If he recounted the event even remotely close to how it actually played out then they need to take serious looks in the mirror and figure out how they could have been so pathetic in their sanctions against him in the first place. They should have anyway, cause you shouldn't need the video to know it should have been more than a 2 game suspension, but if someone is telling you something even close to that then you should just be ashamed of yourself if the punishment is that light.

Regular Joe the Plumber doesn't sign a contract like they do in the NFL.

And yet Roger Goddell says that Rice didn't tell him the whole truth. Right.

A regular Joe could be fired or he could be retained. It would depend on many factors. I think Rice not being as good as he was a couple of years ago contributes to him being let go.

In 2011 Rice had 2068 yards from scrimmage, averaged 4.7 ypc and scored 15 touchdowns.

In 2012 Rice had 1621 yards from scrimmage, averaged 4.4 ypc and scored 10 touchdowns.

In 2013 Rice had 981 yards from scrimmage, averaged 3.1 ypc and scored 4 touchdowns.

Those are downward trends.

Seriously? Lol
Remember it was 2 game suspension first. So, no that wasn't it.

Not the point. Lose job or not?

I have wondered this myself. I have seen stats online that say anywhere from 50-80% of the time you would lose your job if you got a domestic violence conviction. But what if you got a Ray Rice style slap on the wrist? Without TMZ broadcasting your video 24-7, would they even know? If you took a couple of weeks off to deal with a personal matter, would they be none the wiser?
