Ravens Interested in T.O.

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh addressed a number of personnel issues in his Combine interview:

Most prevalent, he addressed rumors that the Ravens might be interested in Terrell Owens. “We’re interested in T.O. We’re interested in anybody that can help our football team,” he said, admitting that he has watched film of Owens recently.
He said center Matt Birk fit into the offense right away and became a leader in quick order.
The Ravens were interested in Donte’ Stallworth after he impressed in a workout. “He put together a great workout. We put him through a grueling workout.”
WR Derrick Mason and the Ravens are both interested in working out a deal. The Ravens are interested in a multi-year deal, Harbaugh said.
He still sees QB Troy Smith as a starter in the league, but he obviously won’t be starting for the Ravens. However, they plan on retaining Smith.

I find that hard to believe after he screwed them over in the trade they made with the 49ers to acquire him. TO has been a bad apple for the teams he has played for, but he never really screwed them.

He screwed Baltimore.

1st thing I thought too.

But if there was a locker room that could keep him in check its that one.

Didn't John Harbaugh recently say in an interview that "the dallas cowboys is everything wrong with the nfl" strongly regarding the free agents.. (TO)?

He screwed Baltimore.

Exactly. Though at the time the Ravens tried to get him, Kyle Boller was the QB so you could see why he wouldn't want to play for them. heh.

Thats what they said when he went to Philly too.

Anybody that wants TO at this stage is stupid IMO.

Harbaugh says Ravens are interested in T.O.

On Friday, Browns president Mike Holmgren made the forbidden public reference to defensive end Julius Peppers, who remains under contract to the Panthers.

On Saturday, the coach of the team that used to be the Browns made a forbidden public reference to receiver Terrell Owens, who remains under contract to the Bills.

"We're interested in T.O.," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, per our own Gregg Rosenthal, who is in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine. "We're interested in all the guys who can make us better."

It's a public statement of interest, and it's a violation of the anti-tampering rules. Whether the rule is enforced against the Ravens remains to be seen.

We advise against holding your breath.

Meanwhile, some of you have asked whether Harbaugh's statement of interest in running back Brian Westbrook potentially violates the same rules. In that case, there's no violation because the Eagles have given Westbrook permission to talk to other teams. Though he won't be released until March 5, the Eagles have green-lighted any discussions between other teams and the veteran tailback.

That said, it was prudent for Browns G.M. Tom Heckert to pass on talking about Westbrook. Unless he has received a direct communication from the Eagles granting permission, the safe course is to say nothing.

Ravens aren't expected to pursue T.O.

Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times reports via Twitter a source with knowledge of the situation told me that the Ravens aren't expected to pursue free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens

Ravens are interested in Westbrook

The Ravens are well stocked at running back, but John Harbaugh would like to add another big name.

"Brian Westbrook definitely has a lot left," Harbaugh said. "The Eagles know that and everybody else knows it. He's going to have plenty of opportunities to play . . . We'd be interested in Brian Westbrook; I guess I can say that, he's free. We'll just have to see what happens."

While we don't doubt Harbaugh's sincerity, Baltimore doesn't look like a great fit. Ray Rice is excellent on passing downs, and the team is committed to bringing Willis McGahee back as a high-priced reserve.

Browns G.M. Tom Heckert was also asked about Westbrook, but passed on the chance to discuss him, citing that he hasn't asked for permission to talk to him from the Eagles.

Perhaps his reluctance to speak indicates more interest than Harbaugh's effusive praise.

It looks like Harbaugh is just interested in all washed up free agents. He is probably putting his team on notice that everybody is expendable. Although they are weak at Wr.

This would have been a perfect fit...four years ago or whenever it was that they first tried to trade for him. Now the Ravens need an explosive WR, and I don't think TO is that player anymore.

Exactly. I can't imagine a scenario where TO would interest me at this stage of his career if I were a general manager. The risk/reward is all out of kilter.
