LOVE Will Hill as a player, and young like you said. I can only assume there's another off the field incident that the Ravens know about that the public doesn't yet, if they're releasing him from the cheap contract he was on.

His salary was going to be close to 3 Million and the Ravens save almost 2 Million by releasing him. Not a ton of money, but its not trivial either.

I wonder if our recent swings-and-misses in free agency will cause us to try to jump all over Hill ...

It looks like the move was made to save money and create an opening at safety for Ladarius Webb.

I don't know anything about Hill. Anyone have some in depth analysis of him?

Edit: Apparently Hill lacks in the athleticism department and there were whispers he couldn't/wouldn't be able to cover like the Ravens covet from their safeties. He also doesn't generate many turnovers. This all sounds familiar...

He couldn't be any worse than Wilcox though, that's for sure.

yea crazy there all upset over this.. If they just released him because of Weddle he's a guy we need to sign

I agree, let's get this done, pair him with Jones and it'll be out best safety tandem since Woodson and Williams

He's a sneaky good player but has always had off-field concerns.

I'd take him but we don't have the leadership structure to handle these types of players.

And that might be the reason they released him, something off field that hasn't come to light yet..

Hill has violated NFL policies in the past, resulting in multiple suspensions, and it’s possible the Ravens know something that we don’t regarding his off-field behavior. For now though, it looks like an on-field decision, with the team prepared to pair Weddle with Webb in its starting lineup. By cutting Hill, the Ravens will create $2.84MM in cap savings for the 2016 season.

In track and field, Hill competed as asprinter. He recorded a personal-best time of 52.9 seconds in the 400-meter dashas a freshman.[3] In addition, he also ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash as a senior.

Following his high school senior season,Rivals.com,ESPNandScout.comall rated Hill as the top high school safety in the nation. ESPN rated him as the second overall football prospect and the top-ranked overall athlete in the nation. Rivals rated Hill tenth and Scout rated him sixth among all college football recruits.

I don't trust our FO to get this done. Makes a lot of sense for us, so it won't happen.
