CLEVELAND -- Browns offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, who turned Cleveland's offense into one of the NFL's most potent attacks, will interview for the Baltimore Ravens coaching vacancy.

Browns general manager Phil Savage confirmed late Thursday night that the Browns had granted the Ravens' interview request.

It is not known when the 39-year-old Chudzinski will meet with the Ravens, who fired Brian Billick on Monday after a lackluster 5-11 season, his ninth in Baltimore.

Under the 39-year-old Chudzinski, the Browns had two 1,000-yard receivers (Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow) and a 1,000-yard rusher (Jamal Lewis). Quarterback Derek Anderson, who began the season as a backup, threw 29 touchdown passes.

The Browns averaged 25.1 points and 351.3 yards per game.

Chudzinski was San Diego's tight ends coach for two seasons before joining Romeo Crennel's staff last January. Cleveland's offense carried the Browns, who were coming off a 4-12 season, to a 10-6 record, and they barely missed making the AFC playoffs.

Chudzinski was Cleveland's tight ends coach in 2004 under Butch Davis. Before joining the Browns, he spent 10 seasons at the University of Miami, his alma mater, where he coached Winslow.

I can't believe it's taken this long for him to get an interview.

Yep, he did more with less and made a bigger improvement in his offense than R.J. did.

Never hurts to take a good coach from a division rival, either.

I hope Chudzinski blows the Raven socks off and gets the job.

If I had to bet on someone to get this job, this is the guy.

I think Garrett is smart enough to not take the Ravens job. With the veterans they have on that team and the way Billick let them do what they wanted. It is going to be awfully hard for a guy in his first gig to take control of that team.

The Ravens need themselves a Chudzinski. He's the perfect guy (with the perfect name) for the job! :p:

Kill tow boirds with one stone, really. Helping yourself at the expense of a rival is always welcome.
