Ray Sherman should be our interm head coach

Ray Sherman is the only one who has his guys playing above expectations. Gotta give credit where its due. He's earning his paycheck.

Sherman always has the wide receivers ready to play. They are the only guys that have shown up each week. Players respect and play for him. I would fire Wade and promote Sherman to HC. Promote Campo to DC. Demote Garrett to OC. Lets try to fix this thing.

Do you really want Campo as your DC?

Yeah, what is this Campo at DC talk? Forget that.

I don't want Campo anywhere NEAR Dallas anymore. I wasn't happy when they got him back.

I think the world of Ray Sherman. He's the only coach on this team who always has his young WRs consistently playing at a high level. He's developed an undrafted/unknown WR from a small college into a NFL elite starter; he helped WR Roy Williams going from ineffective WR in first 2 years with the Cowboys into a legit #2 WR who now is really contributing to this team. If team wasn't playing so bad, there would be a lot more talking about how well Roy is playing; and, he has helped Dez already flash the potential he will become and already being talked about around the NFL as a future star.

Having said above, I'm just not sure Sherman has the experience to serve a HC. He's essentially been a WR's coach for many years; only 1-2 years did he serve as an OC before he was fired from that job; that occurred several years ago. Now, to make him interim HC and dump the whole load on his shoulders--not only developing the offensive game plan but also run the defense as well. Unless you plan on Jerry identifying the DC & OC to help Sherman. If Sherman genuinely wants interim HC job, then I seriously think about giving it to him. But I gotta wonder if he really wants that job giving the problems he'd face.

I like to see Sherman remain as our WR coach cause frankly he is great at that job & I'd like to keep him around for many more years. If he becomes an OC or HC, just afraid his tenure will be short here.

Also taking him from Wr coach to HC is similar to what the Commanders did with QB coach Jim Zorn. And we all know how good (not) Zorn was as a HC with the Skins. Don't want to see that happen to Sherman; he deserves better.

Sherman is a good WR coach, but was not a good offensive coordinator. Does that mean that Ray would fail as a HC? No it doesn't. However, if you are going to make that shuffle you might as well promote Garrett, let him sink or swim as the interim HC. Besides, after putting in the time/effort into Garrett you may as well let him see what he can do as the HC. With Sherman at the helm you would lose that oppurtunity.

I agree with you. At this point I don't think we have anything to lose with Red at the helm. We have to see what we have, and if it's not him then we could go after a good quaility coach after the season has ended.

He's had two years of calling plays with two different teams. His last one was in 1999 with the Vikings -- they were 3rd in total yards and 5th in points. I'm not sure why he hasn't been given more play-calling chances, but to say he was not a good offensive coordinator is strange to say given the performance of his offense.

I wouldn't mind him as a head coach prospect.

Yeah the 99 Vikings were 5th in points and 3rd in yards. But what about the 98 Steelers who were 28th in points and 25th in yards. Or how about the 94 Jets who were 25th in points and 22nd in yards. The only other team that he had some success as the Asst. HC / Offense was in Atlanta in 90, they were 10th in both points and in yards. I think there is a reason as to why Ray Sherman has been around for so long without many chances at being the head man in charge. It could be that he is an excellent position coach who lacks the ability to be anymore than that.
