However, if you are going to make that shuffle you might as well promote Garrett, let him sink or swim as the interim HC. Besides, after putting in the time/effort into Garrett you may as well let him see what he can do as the HC. With Sherman at the helm you would lose that oppurtunity.

He's had two years of calling plays with two different teams. His last one was in 1999 with the Vikings -- they were 3rd in total yards and 5th in points. I'm not sure why he hasn't been given more play-calling chances, but to say he was not a good offensive coordinator is strange to say given the performance of his offense.craig71;3612529 said:Sherman is a good WR coach, but was not a good offensive coordinator. I wouldn't mind him as a head coach prospect.

Or how about the 94 Jets who were 25th in points and 22nd in yards. The only other team that he had some success as the Asst. HC / Offense was in Atlanta in 90, they were 10th in both points and in yards. I think there is a reason as to why Ray Sherman has been around for so long without many chances at being the head man in charge. It could be that he is an excellent position coach who lacks the ability to be anymore than that.
