Photo by Mark WagnerVerbalizing a hard-to-attain goal is supposed to make it easier to achieve. There are no shortage of self-help books and tapes devoted to that philosophy.
We wonder if Arkansas football players have been reading those sorts of books lately?
Tight end D.J. Williams became the second Razorback to mention a national championship as a goal while appearing on ESPN's College Football Live. Ryan Mallett did it last week and Williams appeared on Friday afternoon and told host Erik Kuselias that he believed winning a national title was a "realistic goal."
Our mindset is to do the best we can do. We understand we have a chance to be special this year. A national title is what every team wants at the beginning of the year and I think that's a realistic goal for us this year. We understand we have a tough schedule with big teams in the SEC to go through to do it, but we're going to work hard to accomplish that goal. It's just how bad we want it.
Why are Williams and the Razorbacks so optimistic? Much of it has to do with 19 starters returning, including most of the team's top offensive playmakers.
Williams, introduced as a "key cog in the Razorback attack this fall" was asked about the surplus of offensive weapons. He called it "a good problem to have."
