Believe it or not,I took the merciless quips and Rapier wit into lengthy consideration before I registered/joined this forum,,, cuz' some of these cats can skin you with their verbiage and or your lack thereof,,, kinda like it's imperative to immediately hand out properly prosed admonishment,,,but then again "so what?/who cares?"
Lol. Just roll with it man. They're harmless.

They need to define that little better. Is 8 in the box against a standard set with 2 WRs, 1 RB and either 2 TEs or a TE and FB? That's what the 8 in the box term really means. If the offense is in a Jumbo set or 3 WR set, then 8 in the box has a different meaning for each of those formations.

If your in a standard Pro Set ( 1 TE, 2 RB set ) you normally see 7 man boxes. Unless you have a QB that cannot force teams out of 8 man boxes. When a defense does play 8 man fronts against a Pro Set they are generally in Cover 1 man or Cover 3 zone in either of these cases you attack the field vertically to force them out of that front. It's not always a bad Idea to run into 8 man fronts in a Pro Set. If you are a ball control offense you definitely will on occasion. However the last 2 games we have been beating our heads against a wall putting ourselfs in 3 n long. That's got to change we need play action with deep shots taken on 1st n 2nd down. Something besides the the Zone Stretch boot. Daks not great throwing the fade route but how many times have you seen the skinny post this year ? I would like to see Dak throw the skinny post against Cover 3 he will need to look off the MOF Safety.

Pretty interesting stat.

No body lines up initially in 8 man boxes against a Pro Set. However the SS will show when he is coming when you use a dummy count. In our offense Tony often even when under center uses dummy counts to identify the run blizt. Because it can be identified with a dummy count it IS CONCIDERED a 8 man box. I don't see Dak attempting to identify the run blitz with dummy counts. I don't see him checking to the skinny post.

Dang! So 50% of the time Murray has to run against 8 man fronts. Outstanding! Geez!

Zeke only gets 31.9% against 8 man fronts? That means teams aren't scared of our run game?

No Tenn runs more jumbo fronts which is why they see more 8 man boxes we rarely if ever do that. That's the difference.

Wait... How is he not first by far in rushing attempts with 8 in the box? Makes what he's doing a little less impressive...

Not really Tenn runs more jumbo fronts which is why they see more. Run blitzs with the safety creeping toward the LOS before the snap IS CONCIDERED a 8 man box even if he initially lines up 12 yrs deep.

Point was I thought teams would stack the box more often against Zeke

If we were in jumbo sets they would but we don't do this nearly as often as Tenn does. We do this on occasion in the red zone and short yrd 3rd downs. Tenn does too but they also do this some on first n second down which is very rare for us. Thats really the only difference.

Teams will from here on out if Dak does not start Identifing the run blitz which is concider ed a 8 man box and checking to a vertical threat they will go to it more and more and the running game will suffer on 1st and 2nd Down.

Agree with this. Given the number of touchdowns for each player, it almost certainly is including goal line plays, which isn't really showing us much about running with 8 in the box.
