Jaydon Blue runs eye-popping 40-yard dash at Texas Pro Day

During Texas’ Pro Day on Tuesday, Jaydon Blue impressed with his 40-yard dash times. He came in at sub 4.30, scouts told ESPN’s Jordan Reid.

Blue recorded a 4.28 in his first attempt, which took place in Austin at Texas’ facilities. Those are significant increases from his official time of 4.38-seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last month. That was the second-fastest time among running backs at the event.

During the Combine, as it turns out, Blue was dealing with an injury. He told reporters Tuesday he suffered a Grade 2 groin strain, and an MRI later showed he tore the muscle. Still, he ran a 4.38 in Indianapolis and was able to take .1 second off that time on Tuesday.

Jaydon Blue told reporters that he ran a 4.28 40-yard dash on his first attempt at Pro Day, and a 4.25 on his second, much better than the 4.38 official time he posted at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. He cited a groin tear as the reason his combine time wasn't as fast, and looked much quicker this time around in Austin.

This is Chris Johnson like. Difference is, this kid is bigger, and can run between the tackles, runs routes like a receiver too. He raised his stock. Factor in the toughness thing and this kid might be a 2nd rder now.
100% agree with everything you said brother. I've seen him play the past 2 years for the Longhorns. Jaydon Blue is legit. Cowboys would be so lucky to get him. Maybe Jerry's UT graduate player grandson can convince Jerry to draft Blue? I have also been saying Cowboys might have to take Jaydon Blue early, for sure 2nd round now.

Chris Johnson was two inches taller and slightly heavier than Blue.

Blue is not a between the tackles RB. He’s in the mold David Achane.

100% agree! Jaydon Blue would fit quite well with our offense, constantly getting plus yards, plus as you said, has rare speed which would help him make big gains.
But, I still see him being more effective as a duo with a bigger back (like Hampton, Johnson, Judkins, Giddens, Skattebo, Neal, or even Gordon). THERE ARE SOOOO MANY QUALITY BACKS THIS YEAR!!!!!

Perfect description. Anyone who claims Blue can't run between the tackles has as much football knowledge as a ******** Billy goat with a traumatic brain injury.

I was already going to take him round 3.. this didn't change it, he already ran fast at the combine. If we traded down and got an extra 3 I'd take 2 backs back to back. He'd definitely be an option for one if them

Thanks. This kid is going to help a team day 1. Great value with this guy as a Swiss army knife or if you just wanna start him at RB . I feel he was underused at Texas because of the RB room talent and depth. Lots of tread on those tires. Dude is a weapon. They say speed kills. Thing is, he isn't just a track speed guy or one trick pony, he's whatever you need him to be.

No way he lasts now, to round 3. Teams will need to draft him a round higher if they want him. Maybe 44 sounds too rich, but I wouldn't be mad. He's a contributor day 1. Adds speed that forces teams to defend. This helps CD Lamb.

Achane was a third rounder and this is a deeper class. If somebody drafts him round 2 so be it. Not the end of the world
