Yes, this is cheating and makes it a lot easier knowing where everyone went, but I sat down last night and went through how I would have picked (kept the trade up, even though I would have stayed where we were)

1. Tyler Booker - G - Alabama: On draft day, I was screaming to get Jalon Walker with this pick - however, call me a sucker, but Tyler Booker has sold himself to me. The more I learn about this kid, the more I like the pick. Is it sexy...nope, but I think he fits exactly with what they want right now.

2. Donovan Ezeiruaku - DE - BC: Hard to complain here or choose anyone else. I wrote before Day 2 started that if 4 certain players fell to you here, you pick them no matter what your board looks like. He was one of the 5. While DE probably wasn't the biggest need, he is too talented of a player to pass on. Now, lets say we did take Walker in the 1st, I'd likely take Will Johnson here.

3. Shavon Revel Jr. - CB - E Carolina: See above - you qualms about this pick. Fits a big need right now. Now in the scenario above, CB is taken so I would have looked at Kaleb Johnson here.

4. lol - yeah right, I'm sure we'll trade it again next year.

5. DJ Giddens - RB - K St: I think he fits more of a 3 down back than Blue...who I do like, but really thought with the coaching connection, he was for sure going to be the pick. In the secondary scenario - I'm taking Marcus Mbow, OT.

5. Jeffrey Bassa - LB - Oregon: I thought he was the better plug and play choice here. Good against run, good in coverage. Fit what Dallas needed. Secondary scenario - taking him here as well.

6. Ajani Cornelius - OT - Oregon: I'm good with him - can player G or T it appears. Was ranked as a 4th rounder. Can step in for Steele after next year. In the secondary scenario - Quinn Ewers, QB.

7. Jay Toia - DT - UCLA - huge player, huge need. Hopefully he can be exactly what Dallas has lacked at DT. Secondary scenario - same pick.

7. Connor Colby - G - Iowa: G depth with potential to start down the line. Secondary scenario - same player

1. Tyler Booker - G - Alabama
2. Donovan Ezeiruaku - DE - BC
3. Shavon Revel Jr. - CB - E Carolina
5. DJ Giddens - RB - K St
5. Jeffrey Bassa - LB - Oregon
6. Ajani Cornelius - OT - Oregon
7. Jay Toia - DT - UCLA
7. Connor Colby - G - Iowa

Other Scenario - where I pass on Booker in the 1st

1. Jalon Walker - DE/LB - Georgia
2. Will Johnson - CB - Michigan
3. Kaleb Johnson - RB - Iowa
5. Marcus Mbow - OT - Purdue
5. Jeffrey Bassa - LB - Oregon
6. Quinn Ewers, QB - Texas
7. Jay Toia - DT - UCLA
7. Connor Colby - G - Iowa

It's really hard to argue against the 1st 3 picks - especially round 2/3.

The problem is, once you change one pick, you have no idea how the rest of the draft will change. I would not have taken Booker at 12. I probably would have taken Tyler Warren. Once that happens the rest of the first round changes. For all we know it may have caused Booker to slip to 44 where he would be a good value pick.

Good point. The Jaguars trade up for Hunter changed everything. There is a chance Tet would have fell to us if that happened.

1. Tyler Warren. Find me a draft board anywhere that had Booker ranked over Warren.

2. Will Johnson. I really like EZ, so I'm not upset about our real-life pick at all, and I know that the "top five talent with a knee injury!" guys have blown up on us a ton of times. But seriously. I think Will Johnson is one of the five best players in this draft class. I can't pass him up here.

3. Wyatt Milum. I really like Revel, but no way do I take 2 corners with bum knees back to back. I don't really care for Kaleb Johnson. Milum dropped because he's skinny for a guard and has short arms for a tackle, but as a pure football player, I think he's one of the best OLs in the class. He probably would've been a first round OT if his arms were an inch longer.

5. DJ Giddens. He's less gadget-y than Blue, and the Cowboys offense does better when they keep things simple.

After that, Jerry can pick whoever. I'm running out of players I know.

I haven't watched every player that was drafted yet, so there may be better value I'm unaware of.

#12 If they identified guard as a must, then I made the argument on draft night that they had to make the selection at #12. The trade offer was from Houston and all three of the 1st round guards went off the board before they picked. Between Tyler Booker, Grey Zabel, & Donovan Jackson, just pick your flavor of ice cream.

#44 & #76 I don't think I could have been moved off drafting Donovan Ezeiruaku or Shavon Revel Jr.

#149 I do like the Jaydon Blue pick, but I'd rather have added Tory Horton to add some competition for the WR room.

#152 If they identified LB as a must, #152 is the spot to make the selection. Unfortunately I see the trade as necessary, as Chris Paul Jr. & Smael Mondon Jr. both went off the board before 174. I wouldn't have drafted Shemar James.

#204 I believe in Damien Martinez. Even if I'd drafted Jaydon Blue, I'd have added him here as a complementary piece and try to go full committee.

#217 I fully approve of the selection of Jay Toia.

#239 Not really a position of need compared, but we're talking about a 7th round pick here & I'd take one of my pet cats; TE Moliki Matavao out of UCLA.

#247 A lot of players I would have liked the Cowboys to get in on as UDFA's, but I'd prioritize OT here both because of scarcity & I removed Ajani Cornelius from the picture. I'd go with Logan Brown out of Kansas as a developmental OT.

It’s funny, there were two players that were taken right in front of us I would have preferred to whom we ended up taking.

DE Mikel Williams at 11
DT Alfred Collins at 43

Me too and I would've traded Jake Ferguson instead of paying him. Would've saved money too. Smh
