Why is there so much emphasis on Greg Ellis for Jason Taylor?

If Taylor REALLY wants to come to Dallas, why couldn't we work out a trade for Taylor that would involve, say, Marcus Spears, Bobby Carpenter, and a pick, or Spears and a couple of picks?

I think the Cowboys would prefer the second scenario if nothing else than to keep Ellis in play for a SB, given his loyalty to the club. I would much rather Taylor take Spears position than Ellis'.

Just a thought...

If you were Bill and you had a pass rushing guy leaving and need to replace him with someone that has exp as an OLB in the 3-4 who can get to the qb...would you want to trade your guy for Spears or Carpenter?

Think about it.

When would Spencer play? Plus we would need to trade Ellis' salary.

I don't want us to trade Spears.

He's a solid starter.

That's not the half of it.

You would trade away a solid 3-4 end, LB depth and then plug in Taylor at 3-4 end because you don't want to hurt Ellis' feelings and "reward" his "loyalty".

I don't know where to begin with this silliness.

Honestly, I would take Carp over Ellis in Miami. He also has alot more tread on the tires than Ellis...this is a team that is rebuilding will take time.

I'm not saying I would do anything with Ellis though, for the money he's a good fit for the next 1-2years. After that, his yearly whining will not justify the return. IMHO

People still don't understand the 3-4. What have we been running it for like 5 seasons now?

So I guess it's a foregone conclusion that we're going to win the Super Bowl this year?

I mean if it's between giving up Ellis for Taylor straight up, and giving up Spears, Carp and draft picks for Taylor.... why don't we just give up as much as possible?? It doesn't really matter who we give up, we're going to win it all right?

And Ellis has been about the least loyal Cowboy on the team.

Mostly because either of those options would be bordering on sheer lunacy.
