Based on what happened with the Mcnabb trade the last few days, im curious about something. Now i have no interest in visiting Commanders messages boards, so please tell me, if you guys have been doing some fishing, what is the reaction to the Mcnabb trade in Commanders land?

For those of you who visited their message boards...what is theyre reaction like? Are they already declaring a championship? Do they see Donovan as the missing piece? Or are they mixed on the news?

And for those of you who have family/friends and those who live in that area....what is that like for you? What are the local news/radio saying? And what do your family/friends who are Skins fans saying about the past couple days events? I dont have anyone close to me(fam or friends) who are Skins fans so that is why i ask.

My board did a poll on Friday, do you want McNabb 70% no, 30% yes

they did a poll on Monday, are you happy with McNabb here, 70% yes, 30% no.
and no its not ES

(pretty typical fan knee jerk stuff, I am pretty sure similar polls have been done here...)

For the record, I said no in both. Most everyone sees it as good, but I see it as more of the same :(

I have a friend thats a Commanders fan. He is happy about it, but he isn't sold anything is actually going to get better. He wishes they hadn't gave up a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for him. He said he would have been OK with a 2nd, and 4th, but thought all three was overpaying.

Not sure probably something like:

"We added 3 pro-bowl players. Larry Johnson,Willie Parker and McNabb, and Dallas and Philly didn't sign ANY! SUPERBOWL "

As far as I've seen over the last few days...the majority don't know what to think...I've read a few posts on ES and the general feeling I got was mixed...alot of them seem to have a hard time excepting him after all those years in philly....I can't say I blame them.

I've read atleast two posts(don't remember by whom) that said mcnabb will be too old by the time they're good enough to win...and of course a few just saying "In Shanahan we trust"....I don't get the feeling they are too giddy about the trade at all though.

Most people like it but there is a decent sized amout of fans that dislike the move. Many of them know that this is a win now type of deal and that they must do something in the 3-5 year window since that's how long they think Donovan McNabb will last. It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be but some are not boasting that they have the winningest qb in the division over the past decade on their team now. However, most realize that the oline is still a big issue. Not to mention the potential fallout between Shanahan and Haynesworth.

Radio is about the same as well. You have a couple people that questions the move. But most think it is solid. All on the radio are not buying that this is a super bowl caliber team but it could be a playoff contending team. Callers are saying that this is proof that the dark cloud of Snyder hovering over this franchise is now long gone. Remains to be seen.

I haven't read any of their message boards, though.

Well, we gave up a 2nd this year and a 4th that can be upgraded to a 3rd next year. Still not happy with getting him for 1 year, if we get a reasonable extension, and he makes a difference then I will come around, but right now it's same old same old.

I thought it was only the 2nd and depending on McNabb's play, it would be 3rd or 4th. Not both. Wonder if other Skins fans understand that. Or maybe I'm wrong.

With a new contract Mcnabb could have 4 more decent years, maybe more.

I don't see this as a win now, but a win now and later.

Those three backs hardly played last season, and with the blocking schmes shanny runs, they will be productive.

VERY mixed in DC right now per Kornheiser on PTI yesterday. They like Shanny and McNabb.....but who's going to block? Okung is a shoe in for them now at #4 IMo, but really....who ELSE is going to block?

For whatever reason, it was way easier to like Randall Cunningham than McNabb.

I will even secretly admit to being a fan of Cunningham when he was with the eagles.

I'm getting the same mixed reactions from Skins fans in bars in Alexandria (Crystal City), here in the heart of enemy territory...

hmmmmmmmmm....well Phoenix I don't think the reactions will be mixed when this guys gets loose out there. I'm not saying he sucks, but he needs the right kind of team behind him to succeed: like Pittsburgh, or Tennessee, etc....teams that RUN and play defense. That's what the rat wants to do in DC, but again....ain't happening with that line IMO.

I was hoping the Skins would use draft picks for the draft and get younger. I voted that I did not like the trade but it seems to be growing on me a bit. I am indifferent right now about it and waiting to see how it plays out. ES seems to be 65% for and 35% against the trade. I feel McNabb is a big upgrade over Campbell but is a short term solution. Nobody is screaming Championship, as many here think though. Hopefully the Skins hit on a couple lineman in the draft...

Did Shanny bring Nalen, Zimmerman, Schlereth, Jones and Neil or are you assuming that Washington's offensive linemen can just pick it up really easy? Did Portis, Droughns and Mike Bell take the scheme with them when they experienced success with other clubs? Does looking at the injury history of RBs in Shanny's system paint a pretty picture for the 3 oft-injured old RBs?

I see 3 running backs who didn't play much last year, so I see 3 rested runners.

Portis is 28, not old, the other 2 are 30 I believe and basically had last year off.

I think they have more ammunition than fans think for the o-line.

Depending how the draft plays out, they could have a trade down if one of the two DTs actually dropped to them.

Wait till their oline is set going into training camp.

Fans are really underestimating that running game and shanny as a play caller. Never mind Mcnabb is just going from one west coast offense to another.
