Read Option Problems?

I realize that it was our subs, but it seemed like we had some trouble stopping the read option when Pryor was in the game for the Raiders. I hope Kiffin is at least getting the starters geared up to squash this crap "early" in the season, sans serious growing pains. Just the thought of RGKnee running rampant on us makes me ill.

That's a result of no preparing for it. Regular season they'll be much MORE ready. Doesn't mean it's gonna be stopped totally but we'll have a much better idea of what we're doing.

Don't be to worried there wasn't really a game plan in place to stop it. I think that once they start game planning for it there won't be a problem. Dallas seemed to game plan against what Flynn was doing and not what Pryor might do.

If I was Jerry I would of picked up a undrafted read option QB. College is pumping them out. Not to play in games but to practice against. Watching film is not enough. These guys are big and fast.

I think broaddus said the 2nd and 3rd string hadn't taken a single practice rep against the read option.

I agree that Lee and Carter will eat that thing up.

I wouldn't spend much time on it. It doesn't work for long enough stretches to win a game in the NFL. You can get by with it for a quarter, but teams can adjust quickly enough.

how can we be so sure? Haven't seen it.

I would say that Lee has probably been studying it inside and out during the offseason he will make sure they are ready. If there is one guy that we can be sure about knowing how to defend it it's def Lee.

This is a very good idea. I never thought of this. There are probably still plenty of UDFAs who fit this description.
