Read option to jumpstart the running game?

As long as the Cowboys have a bottom 5 defense, it is going to be of paramount importance that they be able to run the ball and control the clock to minimize the defense's exposure. With teams going heavy on run blitzes and such to neutralize Zeke I know the match ups say drop back and sling it. The problem with that approach is that it places the defense back out on the field too quickly without using much clock. With that in mind I wonder if the Cowboys might should consider implementing some read option runs into the offense to keep defenses from paying so much attention to Zeke. Have Dak rip off a couple of 15 yarders early on and watch what happens.Watch how not being the focal point of the defense helps Zeke. The offense is going to score 30 a game.. but it won't matter if the defense gives up 35 a game. The best way to stop that from happening is to score 30 a game while possessing the ball 35 minutes a game.

Seattle has a stout run defense and trying to run it would have played into the Seahawks strength. I'm all for running the ball but going 3 and out or setting ourselves up in sure passing downs where seattle can just pin their ears back and come after the QB I don't feel would have been a good move.

WHen properly executed the read option plays average 5 yards a pop. That's 2nd and 5 on most occasions. Making the d-line and linebackers account for Dak as well as Zeke is the idea. I just think some designed runs for Dak need to be a bigger part of our gameplan. Just to keep it on the defenders' minds. I'm not saying turn him into Cam Newton or Tebow. But it's a weapon we have that we don't use enough. And it's one that helps us maintain ball control which IMHO is hugely important when your defense sucks.

When Dak was drafted, and his rookie year..it's all I heard...how good his legs are and he throws better on the run.
Now it seems like he's feet are glued to the turf.

Dak being stuck in the pocket kind of defeats the whole purpose of having him as our QB.

I'd rather just sign Matt Stafford cheaper if our QB is stuck in the pocket.

Also, I wouldn't mind being the team that capitalizes on Sam Darnold being cut by the Jets when they draft Lawrence.

Darnold can still be good he just needs to get away from Gase and play on a team with talent. He's only 23 too and I think people forget that.
