I do not think that Romo will go to IR. However if he does that means one of two things: Either Romo is done for the year, or the team doesn't have any hopes of Jaylon Smith playing this year, or both.

I don't think Romo will be I.R'ed. That's my prediction.

I don't know that I agree with this assessment overall but they do have a minor effect on each other. (Along with any other player placed on IR in the future) If Romo goes on IR and they plan to recall him, this means that they have used their only recall. Smith is on NFI and can currently be recalled after 6 weeks. At that point, they will have to make a decision to move him to the roster or IR. If Romo has not been IR'd and recalled, they still have the option to save a roster spot by stashing him on IR and recalling him later.

Jaylon Smith is on NFI. He can come back just like players on PUP. It has no connection to Romo and the 1 player being allowed to return from IR.

Jaylon Smith won't be back by week 6, but he might return in time for the playoff push.

He can stay on NFI way past 6 weeks.

After 6 weeks, they can wait 5 more weeks before the player has to start practicing and then 3 more weeks before he has to be moved to the 53 or IR. That is 14 weeks.

If that is the case, we should know where we are at by then.

If Romo goes on IR, he can practice after 6 weeks and play after 8 weeks or he can stay on IR longer if he is not ready.

Smith needs to just sit out the whole season - loved the pick (not the round), love the person, hate that they chose such a high pick to waste when its absolutely needed this year. If Tapper also needs time, he needs to sit as well. For gods sake don't rush these guys back like they did Romo last year - Oh yeah. And he goes on IR so he can fully heal too !!!
Our ******* FO better have some of these DE's on speed dial - if any of them are left. Cause if we get no rush in the first couple of weeks, it will be bedlam around The Star. They have chosen to sit on their collective hands, and its bullpucky to think they "Like our players better" than anything out there at cut time. Especially if they have known about Tapper for a while, and still chose to do nothing. From FA - to offseason acquisitions. Lost 3 starters due to drugs, replaced none. Bare bones thin on D-Ends and had options - chose none.
Bad roster management at best, plain old delusional at worst.
Offense looks playoff ready - Defense, defense looks to be in trouble.

I thought at the time we had a pretty dam good draft,

I think our off-season since then has been an epic disaster
(Rant off)...
