Real Challenge in the NFC...?

I think the Bears are going to choke. NE kept them in the game with mistakes.

NE offense also exposed their weaknesses.

I think someone will sneak in like the Saints or Seattle, Carolina maybe.
Had only Arizona not been so inept against them and had TO caught the game winner at Washington then Dallas would be looking at homefield advantage at the moment. Still time, Dallas wins out, Chicago drops two more perhaps.

Still alitle early to say who the real comp will be.

As far as the seedings go.
Bears have #1 preety much locked up. They can really can't finish worse than 12-4 and would have the tie breaker of better conference record over the Cowboys at 12-4.

Seattle will lose in Denver next week giving them their 5th loss and putting us in control of seizing the #2 seed.

Assuming we do beat the giants, it will all come down to that New Orleans game at home. This will be a tougher game then most here think.

If we do take care of business and get the #2 seed, I think we end up playing NFC Championship game at home. Just a feeling. But I can see Carolina/Seattle or New Orleans knocking off Chicago.
In fact, I see who ever does knock off Chicago as a tougher out than Chicago in thier house.

I thought conference record was the 2nd tie breaker behind head to head, no?

Since we didn't play Chicago it would go to con record.

One more thing. Their seems to be a prevailing thought that we will lose one more game. Winning 8 straight is just too much to ask.
Well, for a non Superbowl team it is. A team without the best most consistent QB playing right now, ya it would be.
We are a Superbowl team, we do have the best QB playing right now. And one way or another 11-5 wont get us the #2 seed. WE MUST WIN OUT!

I look to the '93 team with hope. Began 0-2 but reeled off a seven game winstreak before suffering injuries that created a 7-4 hole, won out and including playoofs and Super Bowl had an eight game win streak. 12-4 was good enough that year for the best record in the league, it could still with a little luck be the best in the conference.

if we keep playing like we have been. we are the best team in the nfc. saints are all offense. bears are overrated. rex grossman is overrated. the dallas cowboys are underrated for now.....

I watched the Panthers/Skins today....the Panthers are bad...really bad. They don't even look like a playoff team. Their offense looks horrible..other than Steve Smith...they really do not have a lot of playmakers. Steve Smith was doubled and no one else picked up the slack. Key is no spring chicken...and I am pretty sure this time of year his body reminds him of that. They looked lifeless and flat

Carolina is scary because they have a defense that can make game chaning plays. Offensively they have Steve Smith, and he can change a game with one play as well. They are very beatable. The running game doesn't scare me, and you can work that defense. We went to their house and spanked them when we both needed a win.

Chicago went on the road and nearly beat New England. Besides their one soft loss to Miami, they have handled almost everything thrown at them. And they play well at home. It wont be an easy game against them by any means. Grossman is the weak link for sure.

Seattle is getting healthy, but they are an average road team. They play great at home, and it's a tough place to play. Seattle is cold and miserable in the winter time. They won't host more than maybe a wild card game at home though, so that's why they don't scare me.

NY looks like they are falling apart. Coughlin ripping Manning, Manning playing badly. Tiki wanting more carries. I feel that they might be done. But that chapter will be written at the meadow lands Sunday.

So I would say, Chicago is the only team that trully deserves anyone's respect. Considering we are 4-1 with Romo, should be 5-0, and are a completely different team, I think it's us and Chicago at this point.

****We have to beat NY. If this team is really making a push, at NY is the time to really get the ball rolling.

With Payton being the assistant head coach of the Boys last year, the Saints have insight to a lot of things regarding our personnel and game planning that gives them an upper hand if you're comparing advantages and disadvantages of the Saints or Chicago vs. The Dallas Cowboys.:)

That is something that gives them an advantage; Payton knows this team, and its players very well.

On the other hand, Parcells knows Payton as well. This should be an interesting, classic battle of student vs. master.

I think that it's going to be the most interesting game of the season.

I don't think we need to worry about catching Chicago, because I think there is a very good chance that they lay an egg their first game in the playoffs, so we just need to lock up the #2 spot.

The bad thing is to do that, we'd need to win out, and frankly I'd almost like to see us get a loss somewhere just so we aren't looking at 11 straight wins for the title.
