Real Cowboy fans? Please be truthful

I had open heart surgery and a 4 way bypass that afternoon so I missed that game.

What, they couldn't put the surgery off for 3 and a half hours??

This leads me to question your dedication...

:D

What is with the obsession with time? It has nothing to do with time. A bandwagon fan is a bandwagon fan.

Only those of us who can trace our fandom back to game one in 1960 are TRUE fans, the rest of y'all are johnny-come-latelies...

I will on occasion make exceptions for fans who weren't born by 1960, but only if they can provide baby pictures where their parents had them in a Cowboys jersey...

Man that makes me think back to how I couldn't wait for my Dallas Cowboys Weekly to arrive each week.

Me too, only those are not pleasant memories for me... for some reason, they just couldn't seem to get my DCW to me BEFORE that week's game, it always arrived on the Monday after the game... I spent many hours on the phone to Valley Ranch, and they worked real hard to find out what was going on, they even admitted that my area (western Virginia) was a problem for them...

So when I got my first PC, I cancelled my subscription...

Fans in other areas have to deal with so much bull**** that local fans don't have to deal with (at least in the DC area), for a native Texan to tell me to my face that I wasn't a real fan or a true fan would upset me a lot.

Yes you are right on! I am from Des Moines Iowa and its not a cool thing to be a Cowboys fan here. There are other fans here of course but everytime I tell someone that I am a Cowboys fan most of the time they say oh I'm sorry or some other smart remark.

Same thing here.

Only once in a while did it come before the game.

Nothing better than reading about a upcoming game that's already been played.

Canceled my subscription too as soon as I got online.

I am a Cowboy fan that does not reside in Texas. I have been to Texas Stadium and generally people are nice. I know at least half this board is probably not from Texas. I want your opinions and please don't feel shy.

If you are from Texas, particulary the Dallas area, what do you think of Dallas fans from outside the area?

They are not our home team. We had been exposed to them alot when we were kids and adopted them as our team.

I know what makes the Cowboy brand so powerful is their global appeal. But as native Texans, do you feel you are more of a fan or that fans outside the area are not the same as we admire them from afar?

I had some debates about this and wanted your input.

I'm a life long Texan, I love my state and love my Cowboys. As for people who like outside the state or the city being Cowboy fans I think it is great and I consider them as much of die hard fans as those who do live in Texas.

LOL ! I don't remember them asking me when I wanted to have the surgery, .. they just told me when to be there.

I think the surgery started around 12:00 or so, and lasted until 5:00 or 6:00. I didn't wake up until around 9:30 or so, .. or 11:00. I don't really remember.

I was sick that I would miss that game, but from all that I've heard about it, I don't think I missed much.

Basically most people from Texas have stick in the poop attitudes, that's not much different from the rest of the World, but the theory about everyone being "nicer" here is debunked everytime we travel.

It's nice to see Cowboys fans from around the Nation, they are certainly a welcome part of the fan base in my opinion. Afterall we all wear the Cowboys Star to support our team.

:star:

I'm not from Texas , but I still am a huge Cowboy fan. I am actually from Arkansas....which does not have an NFL team, it does however have the Razorbacks that Jerry Jones loves so much...LOL.
I think I can consider Dallas my home team because it is probably the same distance from here to Dallas as it is to Saint Louis , Mo or Kansas City , Mo.
So I have picked Dallas as my home team! Go Cowboys!:star:

I wasn't born here, but I got here as soon as I could! My Mom will attest that I've been a Cowboys fan from the first game of football I ever watched. When she wouldn't buy me the toys I wanted, I would threaten her that I wouldn't give her tickets to the games when I played for the Cowboys. :p:
I was born and raised in enemy territory..... 1 hour west of Philly.
I never understood the Philly fans who wondered why I didn't like the home-town team. It's not like the majority of the players are from Philly. And come to think of it, Tony Dorsett is from PA, and Drew Pearson is from NJ, so I guess I did root for hometown players afterall.

The question isn't where you are from, the question is have you ever had a different NFL team that you considered your favorite?

My brother grew up in San Francisco. He was a huge 49ers fan and still is. He hated the Cowboys back then. He has lived in the D/FW area since 1988 and slowly over time has become a huge Cowboys fan too, but his absolute favorite team is still the 49ers. He always wants the Cowboys to win, except when they play the 49ers.

I grew up in MIchigan and still make my home there. I KNEW as a young lad I couldn't stand one more second of Greg Landry at QB for the Lions or that putrid team in general. Made the switch to Staubach and my Boys then and there: that was roughly 35 years ago. The irony is, my Grandpa was from Texas but loved the Lions because he moved here: and was very irritated that I loved the Cowboys!!!!!!!!!!!
