Look I've been as critical a Cowboys fan as they come but here's my take on the season thus far:

The oline is coming around and if you thought that it wasn't going to be growing pangs then you were mistaken.

The defense has looked great early in the season and this Ryan led defense is only going to get better as they get more time in it.

The safety play has been much better this season (notice the dropoff when Sensy got hurt).

We may have found, not only a 3rd wr, but someone who can do damage out of that position in Robinson.

We have only played 1 quarter of injury free football with Dez and Austin in the lineup.

Tony Romo is the 6th best QB in the league (with Manning out). If we had the 6th best player at every position then we'd be undefeated. He's not going anywhere nor should he be, again the 6th best qb. I'd rather him have these type of games (Jets,Lions) early in the season than late, lets just hope he's gotten it out of his system.

Don't forget we were up 27-3 on the undefeated Lions, it takes some talent to go up by that much on them. And that was without Miles playing and an ineffective Bryant. If we played them 10 times I say we win 7 of them.

Our oline stonewalled the Lions "awesome" front 4. In the 4th game of the year, it's only going to get better from here.

With Tony nursing broken ribs and collapsed lung, Felix's shoulder, Dez's quad
we beat the division leading Commanders who were at full speed.

Even if we lose to the Patriots the season is not over by any means it. Most counted this one as a loss anyway.

Before the season began if someone would've given you the option of the Skins being 3-1 or the Eagles being 1-4, I think everyone would've chosen the latter.

Forget the Lions, the only team that looks to be head and shoulders above the rest is GB in the NFC.

Overall I'm upbeat about the prospect of this season, this team is on the upswing and at the end of the season I think that we'll be playing our best ball.

Solid post except for one thing: It looks like GB is beatable to me. I think we could put 30+ on them and that should be enough to put a whoopin on em ;)

All right...who hijacked Birds' computer? :laugh2: JK man. No denying we have not arrived quite yet, but also no denying the needle is pointing in the right direction again in a big way.

I agree. That defense looks pourous. The secondary is hurting big time.

New Orleans is up there with the best teams too. Their defense is kind of getting it under control a bit.

My optimism lies in:

1. Garrett has us going in right direction

2. Romo can be good - ?? for me are: can he do it if we had to make a playoff run of 3-4 games?

3. Defense is aggressive and I am high on RRyan

4. The division sitting at:
3-1
3-2
2-2
1-4

5. #4 leaves it open for us, IF we get hot and/or get it together at right time the door is more open than if we had lost to Skins. We win one and skins lose one and leapfrog into first.

GB isnt even as good as they were last year..even with all their players back..the time is now..seize the moment

This was a nicely balanced OP.

Now, it's time to exit before it is too late. As Paul Revere would say around these parts, "The Realists are coming!!! THE REALISTS ARE COMING!!!"

I agree with everything you said. With JG at the helm this team just looks completely different. I was as upset as anybody after that Detroit loss but still really like the way this team is gonna look healthy.

What's a "growing pang"?

I kid, I kid. Good read. This board would be a better place if everyone was as objective. *like

Good post. My only quibble is that I think the Saints and Packers are the class of the NFC, not just the Packers.

All that being said, we really need to go at the least 3-1 in our next 4. That would mean beating the Rams and Seattle @ home and splitting the Philly-NE games.

That's the problem. He's generally been worse late in the season than early. I see no reason to have confidence that he'll be better as time goes on, other than just blind optimism.

what about 2009 beating the eagles twice before colombo ended our season against the vikings?

The last time he played late in the season was 2009, and I'd take his performance then every time.

As though it should all be on Columbo. Just like 2007 playoffs and the Giants is everyone else's fault.

Romo has been in the NFL for 9 years, and is 31 years old. He's in his 6th season as a starter, and this is his 5th year with Garrett. And you have a couple of games to cling to, ignoring the rest of Romo's dreadful December/January performances.

More power to you.

I feel good about the team overall except for our OC.
