The 2021 Dallas Cowboys draft is the first draft in 27 years where I had 4 or more prospects that were drafted by the Cowboys. The 1993 draft I had Darrin Smith, Kevin Williams, Brock Marion, and Dave Thomas as prospects I believed the Cowboys needed to draft. 2005 I had 4 or more players but saw it all go away when Parcells was run off by Jerry Dumbo GM Jones.

This year everyone knows I wanted the Cowboys to draft and said the Micah Parsons was the best defensive player in this draft. Jaycee Horn and Patrick Surtain were not the best defensive player in the draft. Kelvin Joseph was on par with Horn and Surtain being the best DB out of LA and a player I liked out of Scotlandville High school. If the Cowboys did not draft LSU by way of NDSU LB Jabril Cox, I was ready to drop the Cowboys. Finally Simi Fehoko was the physical mismatch WR I like that can replace Micheal Gallup or Amari Cooper in one or two years with height, weight, speed, and athleticism that him special. He can have a 3rd down Jay Novacek role until the WR position opens up...think Miles Austin.

What made this draft special is the Cowboys finally drafted Best Available Player of Need (BAPON). This is something the Cowboys under Landry, Johnson and Parcells did with regularity. You need defense, you should come out of the draft with the best available players on defense. You don't draft a position like that stupid 2000 draft that drafted a bunch of CBs that were not the best available players on defense. The Cowboys also had a draft strategy.

Reality is that we still have the Big Blue M&M at Head Coach. However, that is better than the Red Head Clapper. Reality is Jerry is still Jerry Dumbo GM Jones. He let Jason Garrett learn on the job as an OC and HC wasting the 2005 draft. I hope we don't see this repeat itself with the new boy genius Kellen Moore.

There is now hope in Dallas. But to rebuild a defense, it will take at least 2 drafts like 1991 and 1992 Cowboys draft. It will take a special 1975 Dirty Dozen draft to flip the script to another Doomsday. However, the 2021 draft gives hope.

I did not think Parsons would be available when Dallas picked. That thought never occurred to me. I thought that it would be 3 QBs, Sewell then Parsons. Bossman fat was a no brainer as well. Osa Odighizuwa and Cox seem to be studs in their own right and be part of the rotation. It appears the Boys have a clear plan for each of the draft picks. I have never thought that in prior years. I am excited to see if Wright and Mukuamu can transition and contribute this season. I think that each player drafted will make the 53 except for Farniok (practice squad).

Great Job Dallas!!!

The reality is we have no idea what next season will bring. There is always hope for another title. We could easily be a middle of the road defense pushing towards the top 10. Last year was an outlier in a terrible scheme. I agree it typically takes time, but dramatic improvement can happen immediately.

I suddenly think Farniok will make the roster cause he is versatile. McGovern can play center but I think he is needed at guard. Farniok can be the backup center behind Biadasz, but of course training camp will give us a better starting spot for who could make the team.

Sad because had the Cowboys not completely blown the 3rd round it could have been an all time epic draft. Cox did make the 3rd round debacle a little more palatable.

LOL I was thinking the fact they got Cox in the 4th made them so lucky for screwing up the 3rd round so bad. I would've been stoked had they gotten Cox + another guy in the 3rd. They miracled their way into Cox. If Parsons and Joseph work out it is good anyways but it could've been better. Cox has the potential to make the whole draft a home run even with the 3rd round debacles. I'd be shocked if either of their 3rd round picks are even on the team after 2 years. Would be a pleasant surprise. So bad...

The same two jokers have been running the show for 25 years and have accomplished nothing. That takes a lot of hope.

Everyone knows the ultimate problems but they are not going away....EVER..... so might as well dive into the semantics.
It gets really awesome when there is a nostalgic drag back into the pre-Jones Cowboys.

Tradition is something that does not exist in Dallas. It is a collection of a fanbase made up of people who were drawn to the glitz and glamour.

Our tradition used to be winning on the field and in the rep. And that has not existed for the last two and a half decades.

I hate to see what young uber fans are going to feel after another 25 years with nothing.

We could be the new Cleveland.

There are still a lot of us that are "Pre-Jones" Cowboys fans... I went through a lot of rear Bus almost butt whoopins supporting the 80s teams in Rural-Virginia when the Commanders were dominant. It was a tough time but I loved my Cowboys. I was little and kids 14-15 wanted to beat me up because I was wearing a cowboys jacket at 8 years old! LOL...then Jimmy and the crew came along and saved my butt. hahhaa That was a looooong time ago. The Jones family is still living off the smart decision of hiring Jimmy. It is obvious now. No other way to sell it. Proof has been in the pudding the last 25 years. Doesn't mean we can't talk about what we think the failings that are going on now and every year....we ALL pretty much know the real problem....it's the ego's of Judge Smails and now Spaulding. It's pretty simple. Problem is, cheap Spaulding will be around forever...

I would be very curious to know the demographics of the most active posters on this board.

You are a step below my generation. The 1980s slip was hard. But it was so fleeting.

haha Alex, I don't know whether to be ashamed or proud of that comment.....it's probably debateable hahaha ;)
I was more referring to the whole pain factor.

I can tell you this, the Garrett years were so exhausting. The struggles in the 1980s were nothing.

Yeah, Saint Tom lost his marbles. Brandt couldn't rip off other teams with impunity anymore.

The Fall of Landry was pretty damaging overall. The Garrett years are more painful because they are recent and so underperforming and they really did waste a lot of good football player careers. Garrett was terrible but the Jones boys had a lot of exasperating effects as well. It has been a mess. Now we have another Fat "you know what" to deal with as HC. I am only hopeful right now because of Quinn and an already instilled offense. Might be our only chance for awhile for positive result. The "Buffoons" Remain in charge. Argh.

The talent in Landry's later years was embarrassing at times. We clearly didn't know what to do if we could not swindle other teams for draft picks.

I have way more faith in the players than I do the front office. It’s not like this organization has never had talent. But we also know talent alone is not enough. It takes organizational skills and great coaching the likes we haven’t seen in far too long.

I thought our leader got engaged or something.

If you ever get to choose to be re-incarnated there is only one good option... "QB".. if it is on the list, you choose it. Hottest women, best paychecks no matter what.

I think, Parsons, Joseph, and Bohanna will be mainstays on our defense. All three will earn a second contract. Not bad for one draft class. If we can add three more next draft...Superbowl!

I really don't have faith in the players, but it is not their fault.
