First take a look at this schedule. They had what ended up being one of the easiest schedules in the NFL. Key on me saying this. As the president would say, let me be clear. I am not taking away from their super bowl, no one can do that. That won games to get it.

They went 11-5 in the regular season
Key note they started 1-3, then in game 5 barely beat what would be a 5-11 chargers team in overtime.

They beat twice, 6-10 Indianapolis Colts. (3 wins)

Beat the 7-9 Broncos

Beat the 3-13 Bills

Beat 7-9 Saints

Beat the 10-6 Jets by 1 point

beat the 7-9 browns

beat the 3-13 bills again (in overtime)

then beat 11-5 miami by a touchdown

last game of the season they crushed the 1-15 panthers

in the playoffs

they beat the 10-6 raiders in overtime

then beat the 13-3 steelers by 7 points

then beat the 14-2 rams by 3 points

They won big games at the end of the year, but clearly didn't beat ANY good teams during the year. The best team they beat was an 11-5 team, and that was by 7 points.

No surprise the next year they didnt even make the playoffs...

When they won the super bowl in 2003, they also started the season off 3-2. And its their defense that really won them that super bowl, not tom brady, although he did limit his mistakes.

He threw for under 200 yards... 5 times during the year. and over 300 only twice. had a 100 yard rusher only once. (during the reg. season).

2004 is where they actually had a balanced offensive attack with corey dillon, but by know belicheck is already considered a genius winning 2 super bowls.

They won. That's the bottom line. They won.

I don't care if it's the easiest schedule, the hardest, the best offense, the worst offense, whatever. When you win it's just that, you won.

Should we give back the trophy Neil O'Donnell flat out gave us?

We pretty much crushed our opponents in the playoffs and the SB. Only the last one with the steelers was close- and by then we had lost a lot of the team that we had started with. It is certainly to the point that the early patriot teams were not all that. Just like the 72 Dolphins beat a really weak schedule to win it all. And its not like they looked all that good in their SB.
