Jerry is upset but has more then coaching issues on his plate like the opening of a multi billion dollar stadium. The last thing he feels like dealing with is a head coaching search and assembling a staff. Rightfully so perhaps, he is giving Wade and Jason a 3rd year to get it right but more then anything, he is buying a year. If Wade and Jason turn it around he gets to say I told you so, if not, his boy Mike Holmgren will be nice and relaxed.

I REALLY believe this vote of confidence for Wade and Jason is nothing more then a gift to Holmgren. Jerry says get rested and get well, there is a job here for you in 2010.

I heard he was gonna bring in Rod Marinelli in 2010, the guy just had a perfect season. That has to be worth something.

Jerry will bring in Rod Marinelli in 2010. Continuity in Detroit just led to a perfect season.

I honestly believe we have to players in place now and going with the same staff one more year might actually prove to be Jerrys biggest mistake this side of the Jimmy Johnson mess :bang2:

there could be something to that, although ultimately we may end up wasting another season.

also for all our Jones bashing because he's doing nothing, it is possible he made phone calls behind the scenes to various people (maybe incl Holmgren or even a Cowher) and was turned away...he may assume there isnt anything out there thats a definite improvement over Wade, and just decided to stick it out...who knows

I've heard worse theories. I'll give you that. Could be something here.

Who better to work with Romo than the guy who worked with Favre.

I agree, and have thought about this ever since hearing Holmgren's conference call with our media where it was obvious he was coming back after next year.

Exactly. Just like with so many behind-the-scenes things, people assume they know what's going on, but they don't -- no matter how many times they repeat it.

I believe Holmgren would be good for Romo.

But Norv Turner would have been too, and he hired Wade instead.

Obviously nobody knows for sure, but its certainly possible. Maybe he wanted to dump Wade but doesnt want another stop-gap, and probably doesnt have that much faith in Garrett anymore either so he cant name him HC. Therefore if he cant get the guy he wants now, then he probably is better off waiting till he can rather than blowing everything up now, have that potentially fail and then have to do it again next yr oer the year after.

I dunno, As a NYer and Yankee fan a lot of the buzz lately has been that the Yankees wanted to make all these big splashes this offseason because they just had a disappointing close to the old Yankee Stadium and they don't want to have a disappointing first season in the new Yankee Stadium.

I would think Jerry should be very concerned with putting the best possible product out on the field next year. That should not include Wade or Garrett or anyone else on this staff.

Two completely different offensive philosophies. Can't see those 2 coaches working together.

me either, but I doubt Norv flops in SD...he's got a franchise QB and has turned him into arguably the best QB in football now...he's also got the defensive coordinator in place that he wanted, so its unlikely the defense is as bad next yr as it was most of this yr

As much as I want Wade and Red gone, I agree with this. You better have the right guy to replace Wade or you will just be changing again in 2 years. It might just be a situation of bad timing this year.

I believe Holmgren is in Jerry's sights next season.

Oh I agree, just that it would broaden our options if things go south for us.
