..if Dallas runs the table. MM will be back next year, unfortunately.

Anything less, we see someone else.

We could do worse or we could do better.

Fat Mike is just the personification of "meh"
Apt description. Big Mac is a good coach. He’s just not a great coach. But the coaches going on deep playoff runs and winning SBs are almost always GREAT coaches. Jerry hasn‘t hired a great coach in 20 years and doesn’t value a HC enough to pay them among the top paid coaches in the NFL.

Coaching matters. Just not in Big D.

To those that want the 2024 Dallas Cowboys to continue to win meaningless games, which I can understand some what, quite possibly allow
Jerry Jones to give Coach Mike another 5 year contract extension.
Prescott is even lobbying to keep his coach.

If you could care less about the moves this team takes, say I....I I I I I I I.

In 40 years of fandom, I am not phased by anything they do, including win or lose. MM is nothing but a puppet on strings for Jerry....you know he's going to be extended

If Jerry is keeping Dak for the length of his contract then I don’t really care if he brings back MM at this point. NO coach is gonna win a championship with this loser hanging around his neck anyway.

MM, Dak and Jerry all deserve to lose more. They haven’t learned a dammmm thing.

Slowly, the players are now rallying around Coach Mike. Prescott/Parsons are lobbying for Big Mike to return

So, those that want a new head coach while still wanting Dallas to win these meaningless games should
have some caution. Jerry could very well throw a new 5 year contract to McCarthy if Dallas just misses the playoffs

I'm still flummoxed as to why this is an interesting topic. MM, no MM, what's going to change if we fire him? Or keep him?

Mark me down as one who doesn't care a wit about keeping/dumping MM.

  1. Jerry finds he has no better options unless he steps back and gives up more power.
  2. Jerry finally realizes that his inactivity in free agency and dragging his feet on contracts hamstrung the offense without a RB, without a second playmaker, and hamstrung the defense without interior defensive help and depth at CB and LB.
  3. Jerry realizes that the OL wasn’t ready to compete with 2 rookie starters in new positions and that the defense wasn’t ready or properly manned for the new DC, especially after being decimated by injuries.
  4. How many games can you really expect to win with the offense scoring 6 TDs over 4.5 games without your starting QB to date? The two wins show that McCarthy is still a good coach who emphasizes complimentary football.
Personlly, I don’t think any coaching could have changed much with this 2024 roster. The defense is still undermanned on the interior, and the offense cannot score TDs without playmakers. Our offense has fewer playmakers than any offense in the NFL competing for a playoff spot.

That said, I would love to see a new, younger coach making changes across the board. I just don’t think Jerry is ready to take a hands off approach, and I think he’s keeping the McCarthy card in his back pocket because he knows he may not be able to sign a coach that’s clearly better.
I somewhat agree. Though Jerry’s failures are obvious but doesn’t nean MM is the best coach. But I’m beginning to think he’s coming back. And the scary part is he won’t want a one year deal

He would have to get this team into the playoffs and win at least the first game. Anything less than that and he’s done.

Jerry will get him on the cheap and McCarthy will have to pay for any coaching staff needed after coordinators and position coaches.

McCarthy is coming back because there aren’t better options available. Users here play down three consecutive 12-5 seasons despite not having seen that from the Boys in 30 years.

I’ll lay 3:1 he’s our coach next year.
