List them here.
-There actually WAS a TO claus that JJ wouldn't go for.
-Parcells couldn't live with the long term extensions that Roy and Brady got. (his fault?)
-Did JJ push Parcells out the door? Why work everyday? Why make reservations for the senior bowl?

What else?

he was done.

spent 2 weeks in the coaches office and was honest enough with himself to admit he just doesn't have it in him to coach the next year.

Could it be that he's 65 years old?

I think thats really it. I bet it was just time for him to move back to NY and be with his family. He just doesn't have "enough in the tank" to deal with all the drama anymore.

AARP called and said they were going to yank his membership if he coached another year.

Thank you AARP!

I think several things,

first parcells didnt get the extension contract that he wanted, with more money from jerry jones.

second, to is still here, and bill didnt want to put up with terrell

3rd, bill didnt get the assistant coaches like he wanted don capers, etc,

its just reported that bill didnt want an extension contract, if he coahed just this year,

These are all very good possibilities that have been tossed around on this board for the last few weeks. Bill is not bigger than the team. He is like a whisper in the night. Here today. gone tomorrow. Yet, the Cowboys remain constant. I applaud Jerry for not giving in to any of this melodramatic crap. :clap2: Good riddance.

Perhaps he has re-evaluated the team and doesn't think we can be legitimate SB contenders next year so he doesn't want to coach more than 1 more year.

Also, Jerry may have an agreement with a different coach and may have basically told Bill it was time to move on. This would make sense considering that Bill had made reservations at the Sr. Bowl, was working daily, etc.

He had his property settlement in his divorce overturned and didn't need the cash anymore.

i really believe that when Bill's assistants started jumping ship, he had no choice but to retire, who would Bill be able to fool to come coach here for a year? he would be the laughing stock of the NFL coaches.:starspin

You really believe this? A quality control coach, a special teams coach, and a defensive coordinator (who disagreed vehemently with Parcells) leaving forced Parcells to retire? I'm honestly surprised some people have the brain power to type out complete sentences.

Maybe he just did not have it in him for another year.

Like I said before with all of the people wanting him to give an answer give an answer.

I would rather have him be sure before coming back, than to come back and not really feel it.

....

Could be Jerry asked Bill to hold up some while he got his ducks in a row for replacement coaches.

....

Maybe they were working on an extension but could not work it out due to contract money, players that would have to be gone first or other reasons.

....

I am sure we will find out down the road, but probably not for some time.

Interesting, wasn't it after the Giants game where he saw his daughter after the game that we started on our nose dive.

He's 65 folks, time to spend some years with the family and enjoy life.

Manboobs retired to go coach up the AARP shuffleboard squad. They needed a fiery young coach to get them over the hump. He's a really young senior you know. He came highly recommended by Ditka, Gibbs, and Mora. :D

what do you think he was doing coming to work everyday? playing dominoes? he probably wasnt getting anywhere in hiring a defensive coordinator he may have really wanted and so on. there is a reason why Zimmer, Haven, Lee all left not to mention Payton last year.

I think it would have been hard to hire assistants who basically only had a one year guarantee. Once Parcells left, those jobs would be totally up in the air. I don't think Parcells thought this was a bg deal, but I do think Jerry did and thus wouldn't go for the "fake" extension.
