Rebuild the offensive line

Tyler Smith would play OG first before matriculating to OT, similar to Lael.

His upside is higher than Green or Zion.
Is that his upside as a Guard or his upside when you factor in his position flex?
Where would Smith rank as a pure Guard as he appears at the moment as a low ceiling/high floor player who's top end value is connected to his ability to play Tackle at the highest level ..... which may be questionable or he'd probably be a day 1 pick.

Penning isnt smooth or well coordinated. He’s good but I’d worry once he matches up against NFL talent

The rebuilding of the OL has already begun, we know we are going to have two new starters at RT & LG and could upgrade Center if the right player falls to them. Add in Tyron is starting to decline, LT is a huge future need. MM and Philbin have had success with developing late drafted lineman, doesn't mean they have to force a pick early on.

I like Green or Johnson at #24 and in one of the next 2 picks Derrick Kinnard

Smith's upside at OG is on par with Green/Zion or possible higher.
- The issue is that he he less 'ready now'.

The upside of Zion/Green is basically La'el if he had stayed at OG and wasn't a mental midget.

The upside of Tyler Smith is Jason Peters.

Envision prime years Jason Peters a LG...

It's time to rebuild the oline. Tyron Smith is a great player, but he misses a couple games a season of late. Connor Williams was a penalty machine, and I'm glad he's gone but we haven't got much behind there, save for maybe Connor McGovern. Our C is pretty good, but an upgrade there wouldn't hurt. Zach Martin is the most consistent player on the oline. Steele is a good RT, but we haven't got much behind him. I think we need OT, and a LG in this draft as the most pressing needs on our oline.

Furthermore, what good is having an elite group of WRs if Dak hasn't got much time to find them and Zeke doesn't have holes to run through. What good is running the ball when it seems a lot of the time, we are getting called back for holding? I think it's time as Cowboys fans to face reality that our oline is not as good as it once was and it's weakening. As for those that want a different QB, you still need an oline to make that work. Plus, with where we are picking, oline is usually a safe choice, and we need online.
McGovern was worse than williams, so much so that after they benched williams, they benched McGovern to put williams back, which tells me we have no LG. Biadasz sucks. he has no power, he can't pass block and he gets pushed back easily because he lacks power. he is more of a zone blocking OL man, as opposed to what we want from our center....

I remember that about McGovern. All he's good at is playing fullback. That said, I mentioned him as depth. The mentioning that he's depth is more reason to focus on the oline. This is more to the point that we need to rebuild the oline.

agreed. we need to bolster the center and LG positions or at least one, right now, those two playing next to each other will be a total disaster.

That and tackle. Tyron misses at least 2 games a season lately, and we don't possess much dept behind him. One reason I wish we'd use free agency more.

yeah, I agree, however, I am not sure if we can rebuild, filling in three positions at the same time. it will be tough, with all the other needs. I know smith will miss some time, but he can play another year or maybe two and give us enough. however, I don't know who the swing tackle is on the team, which is usually someone we sign every off season, but haven't this year.

I agree. We need Tyron to play at least one or two seasons more. Luckily, there is a player at Memphis who can play G or C.

Both.

Very similar or more physical play style and athleticism to Lael Collins, right now.

I'd say Smith even nastier than Lael.

Former DT who is still learning position.
