Recap: Gosselin with draftcountdown

I watched Prince play a lot at Nebraska and I don't really have a problem with the guy other then he doesn't really catch the ball that well. I saw him drop a few that I thought he probably should have caught but other then that, he played well when I saw him.

The other thing about Amukamara is that he might actually be a Safety. I would not be surprised if some teams projected him there.

Interesting that you noticed that because Prince actually has unusually small hands for a guy his size. Some of the smallest of all the DBs tested at the combine. And he has short arms too.

That could be the reason. I did not know that he was limited in this fashion but it could easily be why he seemed to have had difficulty, IDK.

He's a good DB other then that IMO.

I love Woody, but I don't know how much time he spends scouting players.
.
They drafted the TE David LaFleur partially because Aikman thought he was going to be great...Being a great player does not always equate to being a great talent evaluator...Just Sayin.

I did this comparison before, but just to illustrate what I'm talking about, let's look at two players:

Brandon Harris - 5' 9 1/4" tall, 30 5/8" arms, 8 1/2" hands

Prince Amukumara - 6" tall, 30 1/2" arms, 8 1/2" hands

*Patrick Peterson - 6" tall, 32" arms, 9 1/4" hands

Prince's dimensions are unusually small for a person of his size. It's funny, before the official combine measurements came out, I was very vocal that I didn't think Prince was anywhere close to his listed 6 to 6'1" height. I was obviously wrong about that because he was indeed a legit six-foot. However, looking back at it, I really think it was his short arms that led me to believe he was much shorter.

I by no means am saying that arm/hand length is the end-all-be-all of whether he'll find success in the league. It is one aspect you have to look at though.

I have nothing against the guy but I would not take him at 9 if it were up to me. He kinda reminds me of Quentin Jammer. A solid starter but not the game changing, play making CB that you expect to get in a top 10 guy.

That's just my opinion.

Brandon Harris....... - 5' 9 1/4" tall,. 30 5/8" arms,. 8 1/2" hands
.
Prince Amukumara.. - 6' tall,.......... 30 1/2" arms,. 8 1/2" hands
.
Patrick Peterson..... - 6' tall,.......... 32" arms,....... 9 1/4" hands
.
Jimmy Smith.......... - 6'2 1/4" tall,.. 32 1/4" arms,. 9 3/4" hands
.

Having Prince be guessed to be 2 inches shorter than he actually is must mean he is in constant knee bend mode.

So.....theres that

If youre guessing the guy is 2 inches shorter than he is that means when you were watching him he wasnt standing upright. He was in his knee bend stance.

So hes got the technical part down......

Not quite.

I thought he was shorter because of his relatively short arms. Compare his arm length to the majority of the other DBs who are 5'9-10". There all around 30" +/- in length.

Besides, if that was the case I would have assumed every defensive back I've seen play was one or two inches shorter than he was. It wouldn't be exclusive to Prince.

Prince is better technically than most corners. Thats kind of what he hands his hat on. Despite his combine numbers he struggles with catch up speed, driving on the ball, and locating the ball. But he knows how to get in the proper stance

Short arms would create the optical illusion of a taller person.

His technical skills (good or bad) have nothing to do with me incorrectly determining that he was short. Do you think he's the only CB that bends his knees?

The kid has short arms and small hands. He has the arms of a much smaller player.
