The Eagles should hire Mike to run their front office.

That way, they can finally tell their fans they got a Lombardi.

Ron Brace can take Tank Johnson's place as massive worthless NT on our roster. Just like Brooking can replace Zach as over the hill ILB.

Vela did a nice statistical comparison between Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, and Anquan Boldin. With the exception of Roy's 2006 season, which saw him put up # 1 YPA against "red" corners, Williams and Boldin were the same player. Chad Johnson was the guy that stood above them.

Tank Johnson is massive? He's roughly the same size as Ratliff, though you were right about the worthlessness.

Brace, however, is the wooly mammoth type DT we need to take the next step. As good as Ratliff has been, he's too small and out of position. The pounding he's taking will shorten his career.

Delmas cant cover???

We should do what the Bucs did and convert a CB to safety???

That is better than drafting Delmas since he has limitations, i.e. cant cover???

Since when can Delmas not cover???

:laugh2: No one outside of the biggest Cowboy or Longhorn homers is going to believe that.

In the same # of seasons, Boldin has over 200 more catches, over 2,000 more yards, and 10 more TDs.

Sounds like the same player to me.....

Tell me about it. Boldin is absolutely elite in my book. Roy is very good at times and has the potential to be much better than he currently is.

No comparison right now between the two....I'm just hoping Roy gets (and remains) focused. If so, he could be very good for us.

Good stuff... He's talking fast, but I'll try to recap some notes. There's some draft stuff here, but some non-draft stuff as well.

-- Who would you rather have, Boldin or Roy? Boldin would definitely be better than Roy W. Roy has the talent, but doesn't want it like Boldin, whose strength and physicality gives him the edge. The guy has legs like a running back and you have to figure out who is going to cover him, but then can that guy tackle him once he gets the ball.

-- Why did Roy struggle? I don't know. The Cowboys offense is very WR-friendly. The numbering of the route system should make it easy to learn. And it should get people open because any receiver can run any route.

-- Is #51 too rich for Brace? No, Brace may run a terrible 40, but he's extremely physical, the most I've seen in a while. He's as physical as Ted Washington. (Former Wade NT, btw.) I bet Ted ran a slower 40 than he did. I think he'll go in the 40s, but if he's there at 51, the Cowboys should run the card to the table.

-- Will Delmas be there at 51? I don't think so. I think he'll be the second safety taken. (Unless I missed it, he didn't mention the first.) I think the Cowboys should convert a corner like the Bucs did... A guy like Byrd would fit. If it were me, I'd rather covert a CB that can cover than draft a S with limitations.

-- Braylon Edwards? I think Braylon Edwards will wind up in NY. He wants to be there, and it's the last year of his contract. Of course, he has some say over where he goes.

-- Boldin to Eagles? You know, everyone talks about Boldin and the Eagles, but I really think they're more concerned about getting Peters right now. I think that's where they're focused, not on WR.

-- Any insight on the Jets and Miles Austin? From what I hear, they liked him and were ready to offer him a contract, but they realized they need that 2nd if they want some flexibility to move up and get a QB.

I like that idea

Well, I think he would do a very good job for Phillips on the nose. Particularly if he's as physical as Lombardi is making him out to be.

I love Ratliff on the nose... but we need insurance, which Brace would give us. He also would give the D-Line a ton of flexibility, IMO.
I would love to have Ron Brace, but unless we trade up, he's not gonna be there.

Actually, there is a VERY legit comparision.

I averaged out both Roy Williams and Anquan Boldin's stats for two years. Roy Williams for 2006 and 2007 (his only two years in an offense that throws the ball even close to as often as Arizona) and Boldin's last two years. Here are the cumulative numbers.
Roy Williams: 167 catches, 2427 yards, 14 TD's
Anquan Boldin: 212 catches, 2521 yards, 26 TD's

Boldin does have more catches and more TD's. But the yards are almost equal. And Roy Williams posted his numbers with Jon Kitna at QB in an average offense, while Anquan Boldin posted his in a very high scoring offense led by a likely future HOF QB in Kurt Warner.

People always want to dismiss Roy Williams 2006 numbers because he played in a Mike Martz system, BUT have no problem holding Anquan Boldin's numbers up as gold. Despite the fact that over the last 4 years Arizona has thrown the ball an average of 609 times a season. To help put that number into perspective, the last two years we have thrown the football an average of 539 times. Even Mike Martz who everyone discounts stats put up in his offenses because he will only throw the football only averaged 591 passes over his two years as OC in Detroit.

I am not saying that Anquan Boldin is not a very good WR. All I am saying is when looking at his stats keep in mind that his stats are definately inflated by the fact that he plays in an offense that throws the football almost 40 times a game.

If you put Anquan Boldin and Roy Williams in similar offenses that do not throw the football every down. Here is what you can expect out of the two most likely:

Boldin: 85 catches, 1100 yards, 8-10 TD's
Roy Williams: 65 catches, 1000 yards, 6-8 TD's

Far from being uncomparable. Not to mention Anquan Boldin is even MORE injury prone that Roy Williams.

Actually you are wrong, Boldin has played one more season in the league than Roy Williams has.
