McClay talked about putting a premium on speed. Then Stephen talked about how we didn't necessarily grade Shariff Floyd properly for our system (alluding to a "system" that again... puts a premium on speed/quickness).

The signs are pointing very clearly in the direction of quick twitch guys across the field, and probably most notably on the DL. This, in my mind, knocks some guys out of the conversation (or at least as a likely draft pick).

Nix, Hageman, Ellis. The big question is going to be whether we see "speed" in Jernigan. I doubt it.

Quick twitch with Jernigan. Don't agree with OP.

Yeah, and they're running a different system this year. They likely won't be nearly as interested in Donald as they would have been when Marinelli and Lovie were there.

They would like the better size of Jernagan and not worry as much about his lack of quick twitch.

Jernagan was routinely late off the ball in his games. Quick twitch guys are typically the first lineman off of the snap, like Donald is, and like Sapp, Atkins, Melton, Glover, etc. did/do.

Jernigan is becoming quite the polarizing player for us this draft season. Some other guys we may take a disproportionate liking to...

DE Ford, DE Attaochu, LB T. Smith, DT Donald (obviously), DT Easely, DE M. Smith.

After further analysis, yeah, you're more right than I am.

I still like the player. But yeah, he's slower off the ball. Seems to have nice moves though.

He is so slow off the ball at times it almost seems intentional.

I think he would be a good 1-tech and his quickness is good for a 1-tech but not good for a 3-tech. I don't think the Cowboys will draft a 1-tech in the 1st.

Stephen Jones just flat out said on the radio that we thought we could (and prefered to) get "Under DTs" (or 1 Techs) in the later rounds. He did not dodge the issue, he flat out said that just as I stated. I would be very shocked if we take a DT1 int he 1st round.
DT3, DE, or Safety are all far more likely.

Yes, so we know that if we evaluate a guy as a 1T as opposed to a 3T, we won't use a high pick on him. But we still don't know for sure that we see Jernigan as a 1T.

100% agree with every word. What'll be really interesting is if we find out, through interviews, that FSU asked him not to fire out into the gaps (and instead controlled blockers at the line to their stud LB's could flow to the ball)... what that'll do to the evaluation. There does seem to be athleticism there, just not right off the snap.
