2016: None

2015:

No. 15: San Francisco → San Diego (D). San Francisco traded this selection to San Diego in exchange for San Diego's 2015 first and fourth round selections (17th & 117th), and their fifth round selection in 2016(142nd)

I’d take the Cleveland/Houston trade

Most of the others..I’d rather just take the guy we like instead of getting too fancy. I know our QB is a 4th round pick but those picks are a dime a dozen and if you really wanted an extra fourth...you can find other ways to do it.

I’ll always listen to an extra first round pick though.

Future picks are undervalued. I would take a 2021 first over a 2020 2nd

If Kinlaw and Henderson are off the board I would seriously be looking into trading down and selecting Cesar Ruiz, ala "the beard".

Dallas can get a DL, CB, S, or WR later in the draft.

Thank you for doing this but it also all depends on who is on the board when we are on the clock. If a qb is still there, I think the price might be little higher due to the importance of the position.
That would be the Cleveland/Houston trade. Cleveland picked up a first the next year for that. If a team deep in the 1st want to move to 17, a 2021 1st is possible. Its likely between a 2021 first or a 2020 second.

I wouldn't. Cleveland kept trying to be the smartest guys in the room with their trade backs.

The pick they traded became Deshaun Watson. But yeah, trade back and convince yourself it is the best move.

The value in this draft is from say around the 23rd pick all the way to the middle of the 3rd round.

I would love to trade down from the 17th to the 25th and pick up a middle 3rd rounder. Then use two of those 3rd rounders to get another 2nd round pick.

Take Fulton CB, Jaylon Reagor WR, Cushenburry LSU Center, Chinn S

That would be one heck of a draft haul.

And to top it off, give me Jalen Hurts in the 4th round at QB.

We certainly know this and about our trade history.

Very much depends where some picks fall ahead of us what might trigger a trade.

Trading up involving picks next year might be wise also. Again depending on who and when.

I personally see some activity for the top WRs. We just might be able to take advantage and make hay while the sun shine.

I also see a run on QBs early and that also drives some top picks to us at 17.

I think we have to just be as ready as possible. Jerrah and Stephen and Clay still run the draft. Which scares me at times.

Hardly a draft has gone by under them without a head scratcher pick.

Beard, Martin, Jaylon, Gregory, Trystan Hill..on and on.

Kiper sticks us with a grade of D- and we go off the cliff crazy about who is in control and calling the draft picks.

I know one thing..Marinelli is gone.

That right there reduces anymore Frankenstein experiments.

Thank goodness.

you have to find a willing partner for sure but unless one of the big 6 fall to us and by big 6 I mean to our draft needs. (the 3 WR Lamb,Ruggs or Juedy or Kinlaw or Henderson or Chaisson). This draft shapes up perfectly to dropping down about 5 to 7 spots and picking up additional picks. There is lots of Depth at CB and WR which is huge in terms of needs

Reading this reminds me of several years ago, I cannot remember the draft year but Dallas traded down and I said to myself. "We're getting a 2nd round pick in this trade"..Guess what, they received a Third rounder. I distinctly remember this trade because I thought to myself how other teams want to "get over' on Jerry Jones.
I also Like the above article and comments because it makes you realize you can trade your First rounder plus a say Fifth rounder (Dallas has 2 of those ) for a 2nd rounder.

Picks next year have very little value right now. A first rounder next year has the same value right now as a 2nd this year.

Trading future is a very bad long term idea

Why would you trade your first rounder plus a fifth for a 2nd rounder?

For sure. I've heard the rule of thumb is a delay of a year is equivalent in value to one round difference, but at least at the top of the draft that's never felt equal to me.
At the bottom of the draft, I believe we traded a future 6th for a 7th to take Swaim

If you look at the serious drop in this draft right at 17, and the cost of moving around in that range, I'm thinking a trade UP may be the way to go.

One of the 3 WR or one of the 2 DT may very well slip, and that's a better proposition than the bigger maybes that are in the 17 range.

Maybe look to deal down from 51 to recoup the loss.

But of course, all moot until we see what happens. There are ALWAYS surprises.

Depends.

It brought us Amari last year and we have done Ok.

If we actually improve in 2020, then that #1 pick gets pushed down to b/w 25-32.

Those are not sure things. For example Taco and Trystan Hill. High picks but disappointments as far as really helping us.

I have followed the team for 50 years.Trading away a future #1 is not suicide. It's done all over the NFL.

Appreciate your point of view though. It's all good.

Guys at those positions "later in the draft" are most likely going to be Trystan Hill, Anthony Brown, Xavier Woods, and Devin Street.

In other word, just guys.

I'd rather stay put and get one difference maker than four guys you can get anywhere. The odds get worse as you go in the draft. Star players later are hard to find.
