Record without Tyron Smith

It’s crazy how bad the team plays when this dude is out. I know LT is a hard azz position to play in this league but damn…is it really this hard in this league to find quality depth?

No idea why everyone is up in arms over the loss yesterday.

Every team would lose to the Chiefs on the road without the equivalent of Tyron Smith, Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, a gimpy Zeke Elliott and that’s without getting into Randy Gregory, Demarcus Lawrence, etc on defense.

“Next man up” doesn’t apply when 5 of your top 10 players are out and one is playing at 50%.

The problem is the gap between Smith and whoever we have used to replace him is significant. Most teams have a good LT and find an average level player as a replacement. We go from HOF to BELOW average. That's the problem.

Just me, but do what the Eagles did when they draft Lane Johnson. Use high pick on LT and start him at RT until you need him. Of course, the Eagles never moved Johnson to LT it was their original plan and a good one IMO.

what and who has been our backup strategy when we've had to replace or sub for Tyron ?

-Chaz Green
-Bryant Bell
-Cam Fleming
-Cam Irving
-Brandon Knight
-Ty Nyseke
-Terrell Steele

Will Josh Ball be next in line next year ?

Having a Hall of Fame level LT for all of these has been a real luxury.
He HAS played very well for us this year as well.
But yes, his playing days will end fairly soon

I agree 100% and still believe he's a keeper but we have to be honest, he's no longer going to give us 16-17 games. My thing is us being better prepared WHEN he misses games. That's all I'm saying .......

I wonder how long his playing days will actually go. Reason I say this is because supposedly the surgery on his neck/back went well and we haven't heard a single thing about any issues with it all year.

Only peep we've heard is ankle but that was a result of his own teammate crashing into him.

If he finishes this season with no issues then I would be surprised if he at least attempted to finish out his contract

Incorrect. Tired of the injury excuses. Teams find a way to win. AZ has been without Kyler and D-Hop for a month and I believe only lost one game with them out. Dallas has won with Tyron out before, D-Law and Gregory out before, and Dak out before (all in separate games) and still won. This is NOT an excuse for ineptitude and a measly 9 points against a horrible KC defense.

You nailed it. Everyone is crying big giant tears, and I thought as soon as we lost our LT, our best receiver and our best 2 defensive ends were out we would lose. Playing the Chiefs at home when they were in the super bowl the last 2 years was going to be tough even if we were operating on all cylinders.

Two thumbs up on your post.

They better figure something out fast.

'Cause Dak ain't gonna get trucked just because his OL can't pass block.

You're exactly right........this is why IMO it's time we invest some serious capital to find his replacement. Stop thinking we a just plug any player in the position and not struggle.

they did invest in a backup in the draft, unfortunately he barely practiced and is on IR.

I said before the year that if 70, 77, or 4 went down (in that order) it’d be very hard for us to win.

Tyron is known for shutting down the edge— but his run blocking may be even more important.

We just cannot run the ball efficiently when he’s not out there.
