If Mike can not kickoff this year and a spot is gone for a specialist to do it. Who stays and who goes if Bill only keeps 5 WRs. The better WR Rector or the punt returner Green?

Rector who before long you may just see taking those punts on a consistent basis

That's been one of the major questions discussed recently. Most people here seem to be leaning towards Rector because of how good he's looked in the preseason.

Besides, teams will be punting way back in their own territory all year because of our defense, so we'll have good field position regardless. ;)

Rector vs. Green?

Rector easy.. he is supposedly the strongest player pound for pound on the team.. and Green is a little overweight.. plus, his name is "Green." that's not very intimidating.. I say Rector by knockout in the 4th..

seriously, though, Rector.. Parcells likes him a lot, and for good reason..

I wouldn't say Rector is an intimidating name either. Sounds a little too much like Rectum.

If Green gets cut then everyone will be crying about another wasted high draft choice

well, that is very true.. but... green makes you think of inexperience.. rectum makes you think of butthole.. buttholes are usually mean.

would you rather fight a novice or a butthole?

Hmm, sounds like antonyms. Maybe a rector is a protruding rectum.:laugh2:

Rector - no contest. He can return punts and - get this - he can actually play wide receiver!

Skyler Green's only chance to make the squad is if the team were to keep 6 receivers.

Myself along with many others would be PO'd if the team were to cut Hurd or Rector to keep a one-dimensional punt returner who has shown little so far.

Actually I think of a math geek when I hear his name.

There was a scrawny math teacher back in HS named Rector. So because he was a geek and a math teacher some would call him Rector the Vector like it was something cool but it was just to be goofy... so everytime I hear or read that name I flash back to that teachers face and the name Rector the Vector.

Rector has been practicing punt return.. well.. punt receiving.. all through training camp, so it's not like he is just being thrown in there. With Thompson returning kicks and Elam probably sticking on the roster.. I just don't see Green sticking.. it's not like he is covering punts and kicks.. actually... someone who has the tape or tivo/dvr... check if rector or green is on either coverage unit.. that might tell us.

My vote is for Rector, you can kind of tell that Parcells is not too high on Green... All he is really saying is that he is giving him every chance possible... meaning he hasn't seen what he wants to see yet.

Having been in the system, through an off-season of conditioning, etc.. also gives Rector the edge.

I wonder if this next game will be on that internet TV thing again. That was pretty nice.

:lmao2: :lmao: Nice!

Even if Vandy can kickoff, this team will only keep 5 wide receivers with another on the practice squad. It is looking more and more like Hurd is the practice squad guy and the decision will come down to Rector verse Green.

From what I have seen, Rector is clearly the keeper given what he has shown on both special teams and as a wide receiver. But as I pointed out in another thread, Marion Barber looked stone cold awful in training camp and he matured during the season. There's a reason some of these guys get drafted. In Bill I trust on this one.

Sorry, but what makes you think that? Hurd is our 4th reciever. The 5th spot will be between Rector and Green. No way in hell are we gonna cut Hurd.
