Compares To: CASEY HAMPTON-Pittsburgh...Bryant is bigger, faster and stronger than Hampton, but both play with great anticipation and short-area explosion to dominate vs. the run. Bryant is very good at neutralizing double teams and has few peers when it comers to shutting down the inside running game. He is a tireless worker in the trenches who has not been used much as a pass rusher, but with his speed, lateral agility and strength, he could develop nicely there if a patient coaching staff teaches him proper technique. Whether in a 3-4 as a nose guard or in a 4-3 alignment as a defensive tackle, few blockers at the professional level will have success containing him. ranat 4.98 in Fourty, 21 reps 9'9 Broad Jump.

Growing up, who was your favorite NFL player and why?Reggie White. I wanted to be just like him (what he stood for). In college, what player hit you the hardest? Who was the recipient of your best hit?N/A; Cedric Benson and Adrian Peterson What TV-show marathon will keep you on the couch all day?Martin What celebrity would play you in the movie version of your life and why?Anthony Henderson. Everyone thinks we both make people laugh. What is one thing your teammates don't know about you? That I like to play card games. What's your proudest moment in football? Proudest moment off the field?Beating Texas at home my senior year; Getting engaged When you play Madden, what team do you use? Do you put yourself on the team?Cowboys; No. Who has been the biggest influence on your football career and how?Terrence Murphy. He taught me how to work hard (when no one's looking) and watch film.

I would really like to have him in the rotation at noseguard, but with Fergy and Tank (assuming Ratliff moves over to DE) we are kind of packed.

I saw both guys play in college and while actually playing football they do not compare at all.

Hampton was far more active and made a ton more plays.

Bryant is actually more like Rogers for his occasional big play then total disappearance. Bryant is probably a late 2nd early 3rd round guy based mostly on potential.

We have Ratliff, Tank and Ferguson.

Bryant has a long ways to go to prove he is as good as any of those guys.

If we can get him later in the draft, sure. But don't waste a day one pick on a guy who plays like Shaun Rogers...which is occassionally.

I made an effort to watch Bryant last year when it was thought he might come out, and I thought he looked terrible. He didn't play big and he didn't seem to be putting out much effort. But apparently he was just coming off an injury and has looked a lot better this year. He definitely showed more effort at the Senior Bowl, where most people said he played pretty well.

So I'm now back on the bandwagon. If it really was the injury last year, I wouldn't even mind using a highish pick on him. IMO nosetackle is one of our few places of real need -- not for this year, but for next when Fergy will probably be gone. We need to get a young guy in the pipeline now.

Edit -- but I have to say that it's ridiculous to say that he's stronger than Casey Hampton. Hampton is a fireplug and strong as a bull. Bryant is a more linear, long-limbed guy. These pre-draft comparisons are so exaggerated, it's sickening.

I like the fact he was considered a team leader and has the size to play the nose in the NFL. I would take him in a heartbeat if available in the third.

The one guy on that list that is a true NT is Ferguson he is passed his prime of his Career and also injury pron. They need some to come in play the NT so they can move Ratiff back to End get rid of Marcus Spears who is DE busts.

Based on the things I am reading in this thread, Red seems more suited as a DE than a NT.

He is injury prone? Huh....that's news to me. This last season was the first time since 2001 that he missed any playing time. From 2002 our opener this last year he'd played in every single game for each of those seasons.

So I don't get where he's injury prone, unless having 1 injury that has you miss time in 5 seasons, makes you suddenly injury prone.

Fergie is not injury prone, but he has been up and down in Dallas. He was just average in 2005 and that may being kind. He was good in 2006. We all know about the fluke injury of 2007. Dallas has not gotten the most out of Ferguson in his 3 seasons. I would not rush to get rid of him, but I would be on the look out for an eventual replacement.

Well I'll agree with that but I'd also point out that in 2005 he wasn't the starter. I believe Glover was the starter then, in his last year in Dallas. Ferguson only got the chance to start 5 games out of the 16 he played in.

I think he'll be fine though and give us that big body we need in the middle against the run.

I REALLY don't want Ratliff to get stuck at NT for the rest of his career here. He's too good for that.
