My friend was in the original movie. Darren Dalton. Played bass in our band along with his brother, Eric. He was the guy with the tracking beacon and was eventually shot. Also the worst actor.:

He got a gig in Rumble Fish as a Soc. He was the guy who drove the red Mustang. They actually let him keep the Stang. It was a real POS tho. Barely made it back to ABQ.

We had some good times me and the Dalton boys.

Apologies for offtopic blather................

I did not care for the original as I thought the premise was ridiculous. I think I'll give this one a pass. Red Dawn was Charlie Sheen's first movie, I believe. BTW, Iceberg, a sequel to Logan's Run would be interesting. Like others here, I question the push for remakes.

It was the Russians(Soviet Union) that invaded. That is where the Red came from. In the original China was an ally.

Yes, Russia invaded. Remember when they parachuted into the school at the beginning of the movie?

One of my all-time favorites, looking forward to this one, saw the previews last night when we went to see "the Watch". Horrible movie BTW, do not waste your time.
Do y'all think I'm that stupid? I know it was Russia and Cuba in the original. If you followed the pre-production of the re-make they had China set to invade not North Korea.

"According to the LA Times, the filmmakers have decided to change the villains yet again. Instead of the Chinese, North Korean soldiers will now invade the U.S. in the Red Dawn remake. The switch was made in an effort to give the film greater box office appeal in China – which has become one of the most profitable markets for American movies."

You can't set people up like that.

I am usually not surprised how stupid Hollywood can be on anything military. No one is dumber.

But this takes it to another level of sheer imbecility.

Actually, I can :D

If I was some moron with no quick wits about him, I could agree with you.

I'll gladly set myself up for a fail on an internet forum, won't make much of a difference to me.

The tank commander was Cuban and we could tell because he wore a che beret.
