I understand that, and maybe this question doesn't pertain as much to Texas as it does to OU, but it seems like OU has been in a slump for some time. I do not follow either team week in and week out so I could be clearly off the mark which is why I asked for input from someone who is more familiar with the teams.

I wouldn't say slump. OU had a down year last season, but won the conference title the previous 3 years in a row. 6 this past decade.

Our BCS woes are hard to deal with. OU has been very successful this decade, but the BCS losses always leave a bad taste.

Both OU and UT have had a great decade.

Looks like they came out as big as Texas did.

:D

I don't really think you have room to talk until you get a win over UT CC.

Well enjoy it now OSU cake walk comes to an end in their last 3 games of the season. Can't wait to see Denard Robinson tap dance on your grave. :laugh2:

i think it will be a very low scoring game, like 7-3, a defensive or special teams play could be the difference in the game, should be interesting

I highly doubt Texas keeps Oklahoma from scoring ONLY 7 pts. ;) :D

That's a fair statement, maybe what I am talking about is the fear factor that use to be involved when OU or Nebraska or Texas rolled into town. I remember when OSU beating OU was a major upset and cause for suicide watches all throughout Norman. It hasn't been that way in quite some time, maybe it isn't just OU and Texas, perhaps there isn't a clear powerhouse left in college football like there use to be.

This will probably be a good year to take a nap during the RRR.

OSU hasn't beaten OU since '02, and they haven't defeated UT in I believe an entire decade.

It would suck here in Norman if we ever lose to OSU. Even if we've won that game like 86 out of the last 100 times, which we have. It's hardly a rivalry. Lopsided for sure.

When OU is up, as they were in '08, they are feared, as they became the highest scoring offense in all of history in CFB. UT beat us, and then we went on a major roll. We were feared from 2000 to 2003 also. You know you have to be on top of your game anytime the Sooners or Horns roll into town. If you're not, you'll get rolled. You saw it in the Fiesta Bowl as you guys embarrassed us. Can't forget that we woke up and ran like 35 unanswered points up all in one half to make a huge comeback. Fell short, all credit to the new monster in town, Boise State.

Any team coming into Norman has to be a little bit afraid, or at least have some serious respect. When you step on that field and realize that OU has only lost twice on that field since 2000, you realize the odds are stacked against you in a serious way.

I promise you this, OU and UT are both a year away. Next year, and the year after that, both teams will be feared.

And lol at the guy who said he'll be napping through the RRR. Sounds like someone who knows they aren't gonna get to see what they want to see. So they're ready to concede. That's how I like it. Go to bed and sleep through your worst nightmare, which is a little Sooner dominance.

I'm not counting the Boise victory over OU in my assessment at all, rather I am comparing the Big 12 to to the Big-8, back when Nebraska would rush for 600 yards, Notre Dame could actually field a team, and Florida State and Miami were dominant. It seemed that each year you could pencil in the top 10 with little variance, it has changed quite a bit since then. Bama is re-surging, USC is on the decline, OU and UT are not near as feared as they once were, my question is directed more to what is responsible for that shift. This is in no way a slam on OU or UT programs, they have a long tradition of excellence, but no team in the country seems to have a run of the success that these teams had in the 80's and 90's.

Is the High School athlete pool that much bigger? Is the human race evolving through genetics or science and creating better athletes and more of them, or are other schools able to recruit more effectively away from these traditionally powerhouse football programs?

I agree that that the RRR is a huge game that should never be slept through. It is the biggest game of the year for both schools, for two rival programs that share no love for each other. It is probably the only game of the year that I actually watch of each school all year. I enjoy it every year.

Besides...your a Husker fan...nobody cares in the Big 12 if you QQ OU/TX RRS weekend.
