Red Zone Identity or Lack thereof

My take on Sunday is this team continues to have no identity in the red zone. The team played great all game considering we basically had none of our top 3 cb's and yet we held NY in check most of the game.

Garrett could have called 3 run plays in a row at the goal line after Witten took them down inside the 5 yard line in the 4th quarter. We may have punched it in or at least we wouldn't have put the a reckless Romo in a position to make a silly and unwarranted play. The play should have been if there is nothing there go down and don't risk anything and kick the fg to make it a two score game.

Garrett should have told Tony to eat it if there was no play but Tony disregarded the score and the clock to try and make an ill advised decision.

I like Romo and he is a good qb but he makes bad decisions and seems to have a black cloud over him when the game is on the line. That's what makes elite qb's you can count on and Tony Romo.

That throw to Bryant that Revis intercepted is case in point. Bryant was hurt, wasn't open and barely running. Why throw it there? Throw it away and look for someone reasonably open next time. They picked on Cromartie all game...why not try there instead.

Garrett went away from the run game at the goal line and our fade pass should not be the only other play in our arsenal.

We did run on 1st down with a handoff to Felix did not get much. 2nd down Romo had no one open and threw it away. 3rd was a pass nothing open Romo saw a gap and tried to run it in. I hate he fumble and feel he should have done a better job of protecting the ball but I have no issue with Romo trying to run the ball in and not much of an issue with the plays that were called.

No, you've got the sequence wrong. The first down play was a throw to Austin that was almost intercepted. We ran the ball on second down for about a yard, and we all know what happened on third down. This is an example of the one thing I have not liked about Garrett since he's been here. He won't run the ball enough deep in the red zone. It's happened over and over and he still has not learned the lesson.

10:00 4th Dal 1st & 3 at NYJ3 Felix Jones rush to the right for 1 yard to the NYJ2. Tackled by Bart Scott.

9:15 4th Dal 2nd & 2 at NYJ2 Tony Romo incomplete pass to the right intended for Miles Austin.

9:12 4th Dal 3rd & 2 at NYJ2 Tony Romo sacked at NYJ3 for a loss of 1 yard by Mike DeVito. FUMBLE, recovered by NYJ (Sione Pouha). Tackled by Tyron Smith.

Also BS it was not almost an int. he clearly threw it away. But continue to the agenda of your playcalling. I'm sure you can teach Garrett some lessons

I was thinking the pass to Austin was on first down, and still do, but regardless, we should've ran the ball 3 times with a first and goal from inside the 3. It doesn't change the fact that we tried to throw on 2 out of 3 plays inside the 3 yard line and that just doesn't cut it as far as I'm concerned. It cost us the game in the end.

You have the sequence wrong. First down at the 3, Felix ran for a yard. Second down was the pass to Austin. Third down was the fumble.

EDIT: Never mind, too slow.

I don't know what game you watched, but Romo in no way was trying to throw that pass to Austin away. It was either a poor pass or Austin turned the wrong way. it was to the wrong shoulder. IF Romo was trying to throw that away, he did one of the worst jobs I've ever seen in the attempt.

vs a 9 man front and had the RB fumbled this same crowd would holler about how Garrett needed to throw the ball instead of trying to pound it in. I have no problem with the plays called, my problem is the fact it was fumbled away. Romo choose to run because he had no WR open so instead of risking the int he made a run for the goal line. He has to protect it better but I have no issue with him avoiding throwing it and trying to get in the endzone

RUN THE DAMN BALL. I'll take my chances with our of our RBs toting the rock rather than our QB that has had the propensity to fumble anyway. Running the ball doens't necessarily mean you have to run it into the teeth of the defense. Jones scored a TD on the first play of the 4th quarter. If we can't punch it in from inside the 3 yard line, we don't deserve to win anyway. Even if we didn't score a TD, we could have still kicked hte FG and won the game. IMO there is simply no defense for the play calling there.

my point is we simply have no identity and Tony takes chances with the ball..we don't score enough in the red zone and the fact we always have issues. The first pass to Austin was terrible and almost resulted in an INT. This game was probably over if we go up 10. Run the clock and pound the ball.

And that is your view. I'm sure if you were calling the plays and it did not work out people would be questioning your playcalling as well.

It was a perfect pass and should have been an easy TD, but Austin didn't turn for it. But don't let the Romo haters hear that, cause he can't perform in those situations.

well until we get an identity in the red zone and Romo stops his careless play..we are what we are...average team.
