Stat that defined the first half: The offense's44% red zone success. After leading the NFL in red zone percentage last season, the Cowboys are 29th in 2023. They are tied for 31st in goal-to-go scenarios (50%), better than only Denver. The recent loss to Philadelphia epitomized the issues. They got to the Eagles' 6-yard line with 27 seconds left and could not score a winning touchdown. They can drive the ball (6.4 plays per drive, which is No. 2 in the league), but they have to finish drives with touchdowns. -- Todd Archer
Have we ever seen a year over year change of a team going from best red zone offense in the NFL to the worst?

McCarthy taking over playcalling has easily been the biggest failure of the season. The change in efficiency is almost unbelievable.

The last ranking I saw had the Cowboys as the 29th ranked RedZone offense

How the hell did they manage to be worse than the Steelers?

Some rare air down there with the Jets Giants and Titans

Can only go up from here….I hope

we all got wrapped up on that very last drive and the comedy of errors, but it does boil down to this. we have struggled in the redzone for whatever reasons. on the other hand, Philly runs the tushpush for 2, 3 yards and they never think 1st and 10, they think its 1st and 8 because 4th down and they go for it. that's the difference between a team that makes it happen and a team that makes mistakes not to win

Yeah no doubt.
Whether talking about establishing an overall effective running game OR calling more TD scoring plays in the RZ, this new playcaller continues to fail miserably.
