Red Zone

I agree. You have a big monster (Rico) and won't use him, and the one nice play you had, after the drop, that's all you had. My misery goes on with this team, the coaches feel like they're here forever.
rico got a few snaps yesterday and didn't do squat....

Redzone is all on Dak. It is easy to dink and dunk all the way down the field but once you get inside the 20s all those windows get really small. He cant hit it so holds onto the ball to long

What would help immensely is if the OC would actually USE a big target on some 3rd and 5s as well as in the Red Zone. I can't count how many times Cooper was off the field yesterday on 3rd and shorts or 4ths and go for it.. Why is he not out there? Will someone in the FO please grab an old film of when Dallas would run a damn SLANT... to a 6'2 or so big WR? 3 step drop, throw. Cooper can run that . Dak can throw that (I think). You take that talent and threat off of the field on those downs and then throw to a FB? A FB? Or, leave Zeke out there , by himself. No other threats around. Gee wonder what the D is gonna Key on.?

OC needs to gone... Yesterday. Actually .. Last season... It's like he wants Dallas to fail.

That's a problem, He gets a few a game,if lucky. No way to get involved when he gets only that. Let alone the fact that this moron at OC dials up slow developing plays on 3rd downs and an O-line that can't block a stiff wind.

I agree. On that pass to Olawale or however you spell his name, Rico was crossing the end zone WIDE open. They just won't give the guy a chance, and that's why I hate this coaching staff.

Olawale was wide open too, so it really doesn't make sense to complain about the choice to throw to him. It was the execution that sucked, both by Dak who floated the ball way too much, and by Olawale who should have adjusted better to the marshmallow Dak threw.

So ask yourself, which one is more than likely the check down, the fullback coming out of the backfield or the tight end crossing the end zone wide open?

Don't know for sure on that play but it might not be 100% on the coaching staff (though they do suck). Either way it should have been a touchdown.

well, he is a TE, same as the others and it looks like jarwin and Schultz are getting it done (given swaim is the #11 TE and no injured). so why isn't Rico getting it done? same plays for all TEs. in fact on the TD drop by Olawale, I think it was Schultz who was open in the back of the end zone and Dak missed him. that was a well designed play. not executed right. same thing happened the week before. and against Atlanta as well, when Beasley dropped a ball.

not sure what you mean by slow developing plays....do you mean plays where WRs are asked to walk instead of run?

Cowboys suck in the Redzone if that’s not fixed this team ain’t going no where Seahawks will beat them in the Wildcard if they make it in. Need some big targets but Scott needs to pull his head out his butt and get creative down there. I get tired of watching this team march down the field then stall out.
It's the DEADzone for us, we are sucking big time in this all important part of the game.

Slow developing plays. The 12-14 yard plays.. Instead of getting the ball out quicker.

It was a well designed play. And also not a play I would run when they have the talent on offense like they do. It was too important of a call IMO. I am not going to a guy that hasn't been thrown too all season. Course, the ball was thrown short, or the FB took an extra step., Whichever the case. I am not calling that play in that situation.

Meh. I am frustrated with Gathers too.I am just frustrated. Ranted out on this thread. My apologies.. I need to learn the 24 hour rule. Is it Sunday yet?

My only question: Why do the Cowboys insist on running out of the jumbo package?

Whatever happened to disguising your play, spreading the formation and running your power back (Zeke) at some dinky CB expecting to play pass?

Spot on here.

Dak locks up inside the 20. It’s so obvious. You have to wonder how the offensive staff really feels about this guy. I don’t think they trust him to make the tight throws down there so they never call those plays.

What wasn't creative about the play that got the FB wide open?

At first I thought was it a product of a bend-dont-break Def or are we that inept?

Turns out it's us. Why can't we punch it in with EzE? It's shameful.

I'll be glad when the Rico experiment ends so people will stop seeing him as some sort of solution.
I would give you fifty likes if I could.

He’s a basketball player. Nothing more.

The throw was fine, the catch was horrific. And I mentioned Rico because he was open a little later running down field and got no look. Look for this guy, he's a huge person and can make some plays if you give him a chance.

The throw almost didn't get there, and it didn't get there in relation as it should have for the route that was run. In his effort to put "touch" on the ball Dak created a situation where the receiver had to at least stop, and maybe even come back a step or two to get the ball. With a man running a route into the end zone the QB has to get the ball to him - get the ball into the end zone. And, of course, the natural tendency for the receiver in that situation is to let the ball come to him in the end zone for the TD rather than to have to step back out of the end zone to get the ball - not to mention that his momentum is already working against him having to come back for the short soft toss. All that said, the ball was thrown so soft, the receiver should have recognized it, and even if he had to step out of the end zone to catch it, that's what he should have done. Bottom line is it was a screw up at both ends.

The bottom line is, he should have caught it. That other nonsense you're talking, I didn't even read.

We need to turn to page 3 of Techmo Bowl, teams have us figured out on pgs 1-2.

If you choose not to read you choose not to be fair minded and have a reasonable discussion. Sorry, but Dak screwed up too. If a QB has a receiver in the end zone and he doesn't get the ball to the end zone, he has made a bad throw.
