I don't know if any of the DC-area folks here listen to Eliot in the Morning, but yesterday he floated a rumor he had heard that Tom Cruise has converted Danny Snyder to Scientology, and that, in part, is what led to Gibbs resigning.
It makes some sense given that Cruise and Snyder are hanging out so much (even though their business relationship is over) and that everyone who hangs out with Cruise seems to end up getting sucked into his cult.
Here's the recap from Eliot's own site. For those unfamiliar, Eliot is a pretty popular morning drive DJ here in DC. He does a weekly interviews with some Skins such as Cooley, so the possibility that he may have "sources" isn't completely far fetched.

Did Xenu have a hand in Joe Gibbs’ resignation? After yesterday’s show, Elliot received an email that outlined a scenario in which Gibbs left the Commanders because Dan Snyder was trying to push the team to Scientology. Huh? Apparently, after Sean Taylor passed, Tom Cruise (Snyder’s friend) got involved with the owner’s grieving and healing. According to the source, Cruise’s meddling was so effective that Snyder became very interested in the body of beliefs from which Cruise drew inspiration. That body? Duh! Scientology. Almost immediately, Snyder immersed himself in the teachings and began to push the religion’s ideas onto the Commanders. Gibbs, an outspoken Christian, wanted no part in Snyder’s scheme and as a result, called it quits.
Hmmm... do you buy it? And I know that it’s way out there, but let me ask you this – do you remember the last thing that Joe said at the press conference?
“The last thing I want to say, it has been amazing for me to experience the fact that- we serve such a wonderful God that looks down and most cases takes a very average person, a physical education major in my case, with ballroom dancing and hand ball, and blesses him with some of the greatest experiences anybody could every have on earth. I have been blessed beyond belief. I want to say thanks to the Lord for letting me be a part of this and I want to say a personal thanks to all of you.”
Emphatic much??? Take that, Snyder! Take that, Cruise! And take that, Galactic Confederacy! Gibbs saw the South Park episode and clearly, he wants none of it.
