Refs still favoring Stealers?

I didn't get to watch the whole game last night, just the 2nd half, but I saw so many non-calls on the Stealers it was pathetic! Their RT moved just before the snap on almost every play. Their RG noticeably flinched just before a big 3rd down conversion and no flag. They got away with a couple of very obvious late hits and a hit out of bounds and no flags.

They were flagged for 4 penalties in the game but it should have been about 20! I could not believe they were letting them get away with so many easy to see violations.

This has been an ongoing problem with the refs letting the Stealers get away with murder but I thought it was finally over. Guess not.

The favoritism shown towards Pittsburgh is blatant and it isn't just disgruntled Cowboys fans seeing it. Everyone I talk to, who isn't a Stealers fan, says the same thing. Ask the Seahawks fans what they think about it.

The worst part is that it has been going on for nearly 40 years! The Rooney's are touted as the "salt of the earth" but I have to believe that there is some serious corruption going on at the highest levels. When they want something they get it without much discussion. The "Rooney Rule" for instance, was instituted without a whole lot of thought going into just how it would work or what the actual results would be. I don't think it has done anything but make the Rooney's "look good".

Sorry, that game just really got to me and I am so sick of watching the Stealers steal one game after another with the help of the refs.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, seem to get special attention from the refs who call everything they think they can get away with. We have been one of the most penalized teams the past decade and it isn't just because we have stupid players.

Well said. Without the help of the refs, they would have fewer SB wins. It's disgraceful how they are often handed wins by the officials.

Kerry Collins gets hit late after a throw, the defender lowers his head to go helmet to helmet, knocks him out of the game, and nothing.

And the late hit out of bounds that wasn't called????

There should be about three fines coming against Pittsburgh this week.

The fines handed out last year, to James Harrison in particular, were what got me to thinking that maybe this favoritism was over but I guess not. Must be a lot of officials from western Pennsylvania or something.

This isnt the first time the refs helped them beat the Colts....remember the 95 AFC title game? Kordell was cleary out of bounds when he caught the decisive TD.....but they ruled it a clean catch. Steelers win and play us in the SB....we should have actually played the Colts.

The list is a long one of games the Stealers SHOULD have lost but didn't because the refs helped them, usually with non-calls, which are easy to deny.

It is obvious. I hate that arrogant bunch.

On the flip side, they are the oldest team in the league, and without the help of the refs they don't beat the hapless Colts. They had a gimme win against the SeaHawks. Only good team they have played has plastered their arrogant butts. I expect to see more of that as the season progresses. they ain't all that.

They are definitely not all that. But have you seen their schedule? Aside from a few more tough games, they have a cakewalk schedule that definitely favors them. Throw in the help of all the refs and they have a smooth path back into the playoffs and perhaps beyond.

I saw my first NFL game on TV in late 1949 and I've been watching NFL football regularly since the late 50s before the Cowboys even existed and I came to the conclusion decades ago that individual referees often make wrong decisions apparently on purpose for reasons of their own.

They may be personal prejudices or they may be doing as told to by those with influence over them but bad officiating is here to stay, just like the good officiating that we also see the NFL making such big show over. I think it is getting harder for refs with an agenda to get away with much because of instant replay and challenges. Sure it slows down the game but with super slow motion to show the truth to the crowd as well as the decision maker under the hood, bum decisions are less likely to stick but refs with an agenda can find ways to interpret judgement calls as they see fit.

They also called the Colts last gasp hail mary incomplete, and if I'm not mistaken, they caught it.

I've been saying the same thing for years and I must admit at times it drives me crazy. Yes I hate the Steelers, But that does not change the fact that there is a major difference in the way their games are called when compared to ours.

That holding call on the Colts when they had a first and goal at the one was pathetic too. The guard gets plowed over by Casey Hampton and that's a hold?! When the Colts had to settle for three there I just knew they had no chance of winning.

The thing about the fines that bugged me was that most of those hits were not even called as 15 yard penalties in the game which the Steelers conveniently tried to use as their defense. I was furious that the refs overlooked obvious personal fouls on the field which helped the Steelers win the game. I could care less if James Harrison is 25K poorer. It doesn't help their opponents one iota.

It's maddening. I could handle it mentally if the bad calls were 100% random but they are not,,, and despite what anybody says, just 2 or 3 bad calls can change the outcome of games.

You guys sound like Mike Vick...
[Ducks]

You can hate the guy but he didn't lie that the calls against him and anyone not name Brady, P. Manning, or Brees are different.

Romo gets pounded, hit in the head and below and you seldom see the yellow flag. Hitting Brady too hard legitimately will get you a flag.

Please all of you give it a rest with the Steelers getting help from the refs. I hate the Steelers just as much as you guys do but the Steelers were almost robbed when they beat the Colts in 05 in the playoffs. Polamalu's INT that was overturned and some other plays in that game.

As for last night, I didn't see anything where the refs were helping the Steelers. The Steelers were helping the Colts as much as anything else. They turned the ball over to them 3 times, one for a TD.

Like I said, I hate the Steelers but I don't think they got any help last night from the refs to win that game.

I didn't see the whole game but they did get away with a hit out of bounds on the wr. The Colts should have gotten a first down on the penalty but the refs let it go. They ended up scoring anyway so it didn't really affect the game. They do get away with ALOT of holding calls that other teams don't.

If you are talking about that Garcon hit that was borderline. The Colts also got a 1st down on their game tying drive that they probably shouldn't have got. They got a generous spot during that drive. There were no reviews on that one. Normally I would agree about the Steelers getting calls but last night was not that game.

Talk about hitting. Crapenhall was getting jacked up quite a bit last night. (and I don't mean just the fact that he couldn't gain any yards) The Colts where kicking his ***.

He was two steps out of bounds
