If Bills' Reggie Bush doesn't run for 4 yards Sunday, he could make some sad history

Everything has been blown up with the Buffalo Bills in the past 24 hours, which has hidden a few other sad things there beneath the surface.

One is that Reggie Bush — once one of the biggest stars in college football, the former No. 2 overall pick in the draft and twice a 1,000-yard rusher — is having a historically bad season by running back standards.

Hat tip to ESPN.com’s Jeff Duncan on this one. Bush currently sits at minus-3 rush yards heading into the season finale at the New York Jets and could become the first back since 1955 (per Pro Football Reference) to have 10 or more carries in the season and finish with negative yards.

I never bought into it, but I remember some thought he would revolutionize the position. I never understood how.

Colin Cowherd was a big supporter of Bush. I recall after Reggie's rookie year when he only had 565 yards rushing that Cowherd was still on his jock. He compared him to Emmitt Smith and said Bush had a better rookie year than Smith because he had a lot of receptions and receiving yards. Funny how those reception and yards totals dropped considerably after his rookie season.

The funny thing to me is that Cowherd doesn't like running QBs. He thinks QBs should be passers first. If they do gain a few running yards here and there that is okay, but only if they are good passers first. I think the same applies to running backs. Running backs should be runners first and then if they can also be used in the passing game that is just the bonus. Bush was never a good rusher. Hard to build off of that. The league has had many running backs that could tote the rock and then also be used as a receiving threat. Better receiving threats than Bush ever was.

He played a key role on a Superbowl winning team and has a ring.

While he didn't have a career deserving of a player drafted #1 overall, he has nothing to be ashamed of.

Just because I think she's fine doesn't mean I would be in a relationship with her. She's probably like Halle Berry. Beautiful, but I heard she was bat crazy.
