Reid adamant that McNabb will return
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 11, 2010 12:59 PM ET
A few nights to sleep on it wasn't going to change Andy Reid's feelings about Donovan McNabb.

Reid confirmed Monday in his post-mortem presser that McNabb will be his starting quarterback next year.

"That is my call," Reid said. "Donovan is a great player. His work over the last 11 years has proven that. I truly believe it's a team sport and it's not all about one guy."

McNabb alluded to a possible contract extension Saturday, but that seems unlikely.

A trade of McNabb would be a shocker because of the two-year contract he signed before last year. When the ink dried on that deal, it felt like McNabb would have two final cracks to win a championship in Philadelphia. One down.

Reid insists that McNabb will get another chance and we believe him.

He says it's his call but I'm really wondering if this is the offseason where the owner takes that decision out of his hands by dealing Donovan to someone.

That is Reid's call, but does that match what the owner and whomever is going to be the new GM want?

Reid has a pretty strong measure of control. GM Tom Heckert is leaving to join Holmgren, so they are probably promoting from within with someone with even less influence. I do not think Lurie would pull rank, he usually leaves Reid alone.

That would be great if McNabb stays. :)

He will be one year older. He lost almost all of his scrambling speed. And his accuracy is going down hill.:)

And he is due $13 million next year. Vick is due $5 million. And Corn Kolb is getting some serious coin. No way that cheapskate Lurie will fork out nearly $20 million for three QBs.

McNabb might be back, as Reid says. But, there is one caveat. He ain't getting anywhere near $13 million. That is for sure.

I thought this was funny, but not neccessary "new thread" worthy... so figured I'd post it here.

I was watching SoundFX on NFL Network.

They showed the pre-game coin flip in the Dallas game.

An Eagles player called tails, and McNabb trumped him and told the ref he wanted Heads.

It ended up being tails.

They then showed Bradie James making fun of McNabb and telling everyone on our sideline about it.

Made me laugh.

McNabb is such a loser.

I can't wait to hear those boos next year if McNabb gets off to a bad start.
