After seattle scored to go up 13 in the 3rd, I got my bill and went home. One, I had gotten killed to the tune of $300 in my suicide leagues (NO, NE). The other is I felt I knew how this would end. But, I didnt have the data and it bothered me enough to look it up... Wish I hadn't

Since th garret/Phillips era (2007-pres). Here are the games we have come back from more than 7 pts in the second half to win.

2007

1. Buffalo - down 11 pts in 3rd quarter and less than 1 minute into the 4th. Down by 8 with 14 min to go (the wild comeback w/ onside kick and 2 53 yard fgs to win )....win by 1 pt

2. Lions - down by 13 until the first minute of the 4th. Down by 6 w/ 14 to play....win by 1 pt

2008
None

2009

3. KC - down by 10pts in the 3rd and Only 3pts to start the 4th. Won by 6 in OT ( the Miles Austin breakout game - 250 yes)

2010
None

2011

4. SF - 10 pts in the 4th quarter...won by 3 in OT

That's it. One time, when down by 13 (2007) and 0 times when down by 14 or more in the second half.

We don't react to adversity all that well, I guess.....

Why start in 2007?

The only win like that Bill Parcells had during his tenure was in 2005 against the 49ers.

That's a garbage statistic.

Because too much to look up, having those few in 5 + yrs was telling enough.

If they aren't front running or down by a score, you can feel pretty confident in a LOSS

It's still a bogus statistic. The '92 Cowboys never got down 13+ points to anyone in the second half. Good teams don't.

To be fair, if you are trailing by 14 points in the second half, odds are you are going to lose.

Indeed. Without knowing how often it happens overall in the league or how often it happens to playoff teams, for instance, the stat is meaningless.

Here's one: The team that scores less points loses in 100% of regular season games.

Throw out the 1 lion game....down 10 we don't come back

bTW th giants were down by 14 today in the 3rd- won by 7. NE was down by 14 and missed a W by a FG..

Philly was down by 10 today in the 3rd and won. So maybe not bogus for good teams

Well I know the NYJ came back from 14 down in the fourth opening week last year

The lions came back from 23 down in the 3rd last year

The Giants ( again) came from 12 down in the fourth to win

May not happen a lot, but it does,

I am not confident when it does that it will be the cowboys mounting it.

I doubt it's a bogus stat. We have a tendency to break and defy all kinds of odds. You can make a lot of money off the Cowboys though, if they're going in to a game where a team has several injuries, starting QB out and there appears to be no shot, bet against them, every time. This team has to have the poorest record in beating teams that you think they should beat.

Or... perhaps they really shouldn't be beating these teams and we way overrate our team.

I am in vegas every weekend and do ok for myself on NFL, I RARELY bet the boys, I took them to cover in the opener and won.....stayed away from this one.

I am not touching Tampa either. Never take dallas to cover playing a mobile QB or the skins.

If the boys get out to a fast start (rarely) I will take the second half over

Sounds like smart betting to me.
