Ok now that I calmed down about the game I can be objective about it. Overall not a bad game all things considered.
First teh defense. We gave up huge plays. it was either feat or famine for the defense. The first have they looked great, the second half the looked bad. Early in teh game teh defense got put in bad positions and came through. But the second half it seemed like they didn't adjust to philly at all, we got no pressure on McNabb. Part of the blame is on Watkins, but they were rookie mistakes...biting on the double move....not looking back for the ball. Roy made a mistake on the LJ smith reception. Overall it seemed like it was the few mental mistakes that killed the Defense.
Offense. Wow I don't know what to say. Sometimes we marched down the field and looked really good sometimes we looked horrid. The one positive is that after looking at the game film the coaches should be able to design better blitz protection. It seemed like anytime they blitzed they were killing us. perhaps Philly showed something new in their blitzes that the O line was not ready for. JJ got 100 so that is always a good thing. the WR it is hard to say. If they were rolling coverages to the two outside guys then Witten should have had a big day...where was he? The coaches need to prepare these guys for the blitzes becuase we are going to see alot more of them. screens and lead draws help kill blitzing so do hot reads. I honestly don't think Dallas was ready for the blitzes like they saw.
Overall I am not to down on things, it was a tough game. perhaps it will help us in the long rough. We had a chance to tie the game with :38 left and we shot ourselves in the foot. I can't complain when we were that close to winning considering the amount of stupid mistakes we made. Clean up the mental mistkes and we kill them. Anything that happened was correctable. Yes even Drew Bledsoe.
