Anyone remember Buddy Ryan punching Gilbride when they were both assistant coach's. Seems like Buddy was pissed because the run-n-shoot coach was passing the ball at then end of a game his team was ahead in?

Makes me wonder if Buddy calls Rob and tells him to lay a haymaker on Garrett during the Detroit game.

Buddy was pissed because his defense had just gotten the ball back for the offense and then the offense went out and gave it right back. Obviously Buddy didn't like the play call.

Passion and emotion are synonymous and passion for the game by any pf the Ryans has never been in doubt. That was Buddy just bubbling over... he actually chased him down to get a shot at him. I am sure his players loved him for it. I laughed so hard I nearly cried. Buddy was never a tall guy and he had to jump up to reach that high.
:lmao2:

Yep. Honestly, if it wasn't Buddy Ryan, I probably would have laughed, but I was really hoping that Gilbride would lay him out.

I always secretly liked Buddy Ryan even though he was an habitual trash talker. The difference between his trash talking and his sons, he wasn't trying to trash talk, he was really serious about the things he was saying. He just didn't believe in sugar coating anything.

Even when he sounded like a total idiot for saying them. :laugh1:

I remember him saying he didn't need an OC because he had been coaching against offenses for years. He was proven wrong very quickly.

He and Ditka had fist-a-cuffs too...........that would've been fun to watch to an end result. :D

Ditka would tie Buddy in a knot but he'd still keep coming.

One of the sweetest things in the world was when Buddy came back to the NFCE to coach the Cardinals. That first game in Dallas was a steam-rolling, 38-3 Dallas. Dallas swept all four games during Buddy's disastrous stint there and only one game was even close. "You've got a winner in town" indeed.

I was at Buddy's last game as a Head Coach. Christmas Day 1995 against the Cardinals. Emmitt got his 25th rushing TD of the season that game. They filmed part of Jerry McGuire that game.

Across the stadium from me a guy had a sign that said, "Stupid is as Buddy does."

I hope Rob would not be that stupid.

Rex had pointed to that incident as something that he and his brother really had a hard time overcoming early in their careers.

She has never been a hottie.

Not if you like Klingons or tank headed chicks with a gigantic fivehead.

Most DCs are a little screwy, I think it comes with the job. Buddy just went over the edge where most DCs live, lol.
