Remember Training Camp, how solid our defense appeared to be?

Were they solid, or was it that they were going against our putrid offense that made them look good? We can't get hyped up about things until we see at least 3 games in the season. Do you feel mislead?? Please give your thoughts
You can’t make a determination on how solid anything is during training camp practices. There’s no tackling. You don’t find out what you have on either side of the ball until the regular season starts.

Every team probably looks great in camp, even the putrid Panthers.

they sure have a great way of sucking us into it, now I know you have to wait at least for a few games of the season to see what this team is actually about

Let’s look at the 2023 defensive players we lost, their replacements and see if it’s an upgrade or not.
  • Lost Dorance Armstrong in FA who was responsible for 19 sacks in his last 3 seasons here. Replaced by Injured and unreliable Sam Williams and rookie Marshawn Kneeland. Upgrade? No…not yet anyway.
  • Lost DT Jonathan Hankins who was our best run stopper. Replaced by dumpster dive people like Linval Joseph and Jordan Phillips, and 2023 bust Mazi Smith. Upgrade? No.
  • Lost LB LVE to injury and retirement. Replaced by 32 year old FA Eric Kendricks. Upgrade? Yes. But at 32 not for long. Will 2024 3rd round pick Marist Liafau develop? Maybe. Second year LB DeMarvion Overshown has shown flashes of being a real find but he’s not a MLB type.
  • Lost CB Stephon Gilmore to FA. Replaced by Trevon Diggs who was coming off major knee surgery last year. Upgrade? Not sure. So far it hasn’t been. Gilmore wasn’t that great last year.
  • Lost S Jayron Kearse in FA. He has been replaced by Malik Hooker. I would say it’s close to a push but not really an upgrade.
So did I think this was a better defense than last year in training camp this summer? No. But I confess they are even worse than I expected. They have had lots of injuries yes but even at full strength this D cannot stop the run.

solid? they were solid against a crappy rushing attack..of course they looked good. they were solid against a crappy offense.

Until Micah actually shows some backbone against the run he’ll only be known to me as Podcast Parsons. He played the entire game vs the Saints and Ravens and he was a total no show.
I don't see how they can realistically give him a big, new deal.
And I don't want them to.

GROZ. All Zimmer knows how to do is provide horrific defenses for the Cowboys. I would go with Micah any day over Zimmer on this, and I don't even like Parsons.
His Vikes were tough on D.

but Big Mike wasn’t the HC for the Vikes.

The only thing I remember is one of the coaches telling Micah that Zim likes to do things a certain way and Micah responding that he likes to do things differently. I also remember Micah saying that Zim “never had a Micah Parsons before”

Zim with all his defensive coaching experience has forgotten more defense than a 20+ year old pass rusher knows, but guys on this team are entitled and don’t like being coached.
Gotta be frustrating for Zim too
